QUINN DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Post scribe cries foul Post columnist Peter Vecsey talks tough in print, but the word around the NBA campfire says he's a ***** cat when anybody pushes back. Well, they didn't say cat. The faux hard guy whined to the NBA office in February after an angry Chris Mullin defender threatened him with bodily harm if he continued to write nasty things about the former Dream Teamer who's now in his first year as a Warriors exec. Vecsey had just taken a gratuitious swipe at Mullin in a column about Isiah Thomas, questioning whether Mullin should even be considered a "top executive." In February, Vecsey wrote: "What top executive goes gallivanting through Europe, I ask, when their team is in the midst of losing 16 of 19 games? Aside from Chris Mullin, I mean? But then again, I said top executive." A mid-season trade that brought guard Baron Davis to Oakland, set the Warriors on an 18-10 second half run and changed Vecsey's tune. He wrote: "First thing Chris Mullin did after acquiring Baron Davis was to give him a long-term extension. Truth is, the Warriors VP is suddenly favored to become the first in NBA history to win comeback executive of the year, in the same year, for adding Davis to a diverse mix that screams for divine leadership, as well as exchanging Eduardo Najera for 21-year-old baby Nikoloz Tskitishvili (a great 7-1 shooter who needs minutes and a coach's confidence) and compulsive scorer Rodney White." NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre says he's unaware of any complaints filed by Vecsey. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/305210p-261219c.html </div> It's a huge page so I had to find the section that mentions the Warriors.
Nothing grand. I just noticed it since that Peter Vescey guy always slams the Warriors and a lot of teams and then ends up eating crow when the team turns around. Kind of like Chad Ford. I mean I do it too, but I at least give credit to the Warriors for keeping games close rather than getting horribly blown out. If you look at the W's this season before Davis, they at least climbed back into it and learned how to stay close, despite losing. First half was just learning to grow together and although it was certainly painful to watch, I think I've become a better fan because of seeing how badly they took a step back and how great they looked at the end of the season with a trade that came out of nowhere. There is hope after all! Before there was no hope for the last 10 seasons. All the hardcore W's fans should be owned a finals appearance or even better, a championship, just for sticking with the team for so long with disappointment after disappointment.
Uh, when did Mullin give Davis a long term contract? Instead of giving him a threat, somebody needs to give him a link to NBA transaction page or something. I mean, he calls himself a journalist, but the amount of wrong information he wrotes are just mind boggling...
I was wondering about that myself now that you pointed it out, Kwan. New Orleans took care of the contract themselves. I guess I should have read my carefully. Remind myself to ignore anything by T.J. Quinn. Better yet, I'll make a pact to avoid anything "New York" media. They seem to be wrong more often times they are right.
Reminds me of Kamakawi or whatever his name is for the Mercury. He was the one who started the Murph, J-Rich, and Dun for Kobe rumor.
Anybody have a list of trustworthy sports writers? I'm usually skeptical of what most sports writers write because either I don't believe them, they spread misinformation or they're just talking out of their ass to create buzz. I guess with this one I just buzzed right through it to create something to talk about.
Also not sportswriters that are too conservative, otherwise it's like, "tell me something I don't know."

He also pitched Kobe for Garnett, for Novitski and a young G,and most of Denver's talent. Kobe's market value has taken a dive. "Uncoachable" + mega salary = TROUBLE Peter Gammons can be pretty right on for baseball. NY media is a laugh, the Knicks in the last few years were going to give Kurt Thomas for half the young stars in the league.
