<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl said Monday that a decision on the future of coach Terry Porter was largely in the hands of general manager Larry Harris. "Larry's dealing with that," Kohl said Monday after giving a speech at the Jewish Home and Care Center in his role as one of Wisconsin's U.S. senators. "He said he's going to have some kind of press event. Again, I don't want to speak for him. That's his bailiwick. Naturally, he discusses some of his thoughts with me and I give him my input. But he's the guy who, for the most part, makes these decisions." Porter's status as coach has been up in the air for weeks. The Bucks finished the National Basketball Association season with a 30-52 record, the team's worst record in nine years. In his two years as coach, Porter's record is 71-93, with a first-round playoff appearance last season.</div> <div align="center">Source </div>
there is no reason to fire porter. he's a solid coach. half the team was on the DL this year, and they tanked. duh. last year, with an average team, he got them to overacheive and made the playoffs. he can coach, and lord knows he's better than a lot of the losers the bucks would be making runs at if they got rid of him...
I agree, getting rid of Porter will be a huge mistake for this franchise. The man can coach, and he can get players to play above their talent. Next year, with a healthy TJ Ford, and some new faces, Porter will have more to work with and get the Bucks back on track. They better lock him up, because there are plenty of better opportunities for him, and teams will give him a look. He has ties with the Blazers and TWolves from his playing days, and I'm sure both would jump at the chance to bring him in.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Milwaukee Bucks are expected to make a decision soon on their coaching situation and it's beginning to look as if they are leaning heavily toward keeping Terry Porter on the bench next season to fulfill the third and final year of his contract. Changes on Porter's staff appear imminent, though. This would not be the best time for the Bucks to make a change since there are not many qualified candidates to choose from and there are an abundance of job openings already with probably more to come after the playoffs. Phil Jackson and Flip Saunders are the two big names on the market but both would be far out of the Bucks' price range. Seattle's Nate McMillan and Detroit's Larry Brown might also have new mailing addresses next season. Hiring any of the other possible candidates whose names are being bandied about - Musselman, now an assistant with Memphis; and assistants P.J. Carlesimo of San Antonio, Terry Stotts of Golden State, or Brian Hill of New Jersey - would constitute little more than a lateral move for the Bucks. Besides, if the Bucks are not paying big money, those candidates would be more inclined to sign with one of the higher-profile teams. </div> Source Update on Porter looks promising for the Bucks.

Hey porter is a pretty good coach but he needs to be more assertive and needs to win games. Maybe a big fa signin is in order. Keep michael, get bogut, and let porter handle things for the year. By two years if everythings still wrong, well then we have somethin goin on.
