<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that forward Kwame Brown will not participate for the remainder of the playoffs. "Coach Jordan and I met with Kwame this morning," said Grunfeld. "The three of us felt it was best for both the Wizards organization and Kwame that he no longer participate in the remainder of the playoffs. The team will move forward in our participation in the playoffs, and we will have no further comment regarding this issue. We are moving forward. This is an exciting time for both the team and Washington, D.C." </div> Source Kwame Brown you just became the poster child for why an age limit is needed.
I like the kid and I can see his point of view, but you are right Shape. I can see his POV, he was producing in game 1 (13 points in the first half) and then in the second half of game 1, game 2, and game 3 they completely neglect him? What is up with that? I don't expect to see him back in Washington next year, and then he will explode and become an allstar and Washington will lose out on another big man...it happens all the time.
It's a shame he's out, I can't really see him blowing up after washington but that would be nice he's a good player; he also threw a nasty dunk down in game 1.whoa
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WadeDynasty:</div><div class="quote_post">Why is he out???????</div> He complained about his shots. He has every right to do that, too. In game 1, in the first half he had 13 points, kept Washington in the game. In the second half of the game he got two shots, two...can't do much with two shots. Washington lost the game. They didn't go to him in game 2. In game 3 he got 4 minutes. It's really pathetic...when he is doing good, they don't give him the ball..but when he makes one little mistake, they boo the crap outta him.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">Kwame Brown you just became the poster child for why an age limit is needed.</div> Well, I don't know about that. He's past the proposed age limit age so that doesn't really apply. I see what you are saying, he might have gained some street smarts and common sense from a couple years of real world experience. But the problem with the age limit concept is that they are trying to incorporate a more significant minor league system. So what about the players who go straight from high school to the NBDL once an age limit is made? They will ultimately just play ball for a couple years and end up just as dumb as Kwame is. Then they will have wasted a couple years playing ball on a lower level, when they could have been learning about the NBA (even if they were on the bench). My point being, the age limit serves no purpose unless players actually attend college before the NBA.
It is such a shame that he is no Longer with the Wizards right now, Oh well He's still my number one favorite player I guess I will be supporting him in his next team
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kwame Brown joined the Washington Wizards to much fanfare as the first high school player chosen No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft. Now it appears likely he'll leave the team in disgrace, suspended on Tuesday for the rest of playoffs. The Wizards told Brown he was no longer welcome, leaving him behind as they flew to Chicago for Wednesday's Game 5 of their first-round series against the Bulls. "We had some philosophical differences," president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said. </div> source moron. your team is in the playoffs and all you want to do is whine about your playing time. grow up, don't fake sick, and be a man by playing hard when you do get your opportunities. this is a huge problem in the NBA. people don't seem to mind that these guys who make millions and millions can sometimes be ridiculously lazy. they don't mind that someone doesn't play just because they're upset at their minutes. why? if someone came into your work tomorrow and said "i'm not getting the assignments i want, and it's the boss's fault" then up and takes off a week for "illness". what would happen to that person? i don't see any difference between that and this instance. kwame has been inconsistent and immature since he came into the league. i'm not trying to blame all the faults of the NBA on him, but this is just the kind of crap that just shouldn't be allowed to happen anymore.
Kwame is missing the team concept. The playoffs are NOT the time to air out grievances no matter how justified you feel they may be. Furthermore, not showing up for practice is NOT the way to ingratiate yourself to your team and/or coach. I'm sure there are tons of players in the playoffs playing sick or hurt. This is pro-ball, and the sooner he realizes what being a professional is all about, then the better it will be for his career.
