<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK -- Memphis point guard Jason Williams was fined $10,000 by the NBA on Wednesday for improper conduct toward members of the media following the Grizzlies' playoff loss to Phoenix Suns.

After the Suns swept the Grizzlies in their opening-round series on Sunday, Williams, angered over how he was quoted in a newspaper column, grabbed the pen out of a writer's hand in the Memphis locker room.

Williams twice took the pen out of the hand of Geoff Calkins, a columnist for The Commercial Appeal. He also screamed in his ear as the reporter tried talking to other Grizzlies.</div>

Supposidely there's some cut and dry rule about this sort of thing, but I still feel that $10,000 is extremely excessive. The pen didn't cost $10,000, did it? The only thing that it did for Geoff Calkins was give him a lot of publicity and a name in journalism. He should be thanking Jason Williams that for five minutes, everyone knew who he was.

    Grizzlies' Williams Fined

uh-oh. with changes figuring to be in the grizzlies' future, did williams just move himself onto the trading block? he was quoted as saying that basketball is secondary to him. should be interesting to see how this develops...

Not really a great way to end the season huh? But hey if Williams wants out or something and acts up for the Memphis franchise, screw it, just trade him.

This is just typical Jason Williams--always running his mouth. If he's asking for a trade, trade him and let Watson take over.

He always came across, to me, as a lame immitator of mike bibby. And I don't really even like bibby, so you can probably guess how I feel about a lousy imitation of him. [IMG]

How does he immatate Bibby? Or are you trying to say they have a similar playing style?

shaved head, headband and sort of a similar face. I was talking pretty much all superficial looks, though they of course are both guards. He annoys me for reasons that have nothing to do with basketball pretty much, heh. Though he knocked down a lot of 3's in a couple of the games vs the suns, that was irritating.

Well, we can't blame him for having a similar face, now can we? As far as having a shaved head and a headband, that describes quite a bit of NBA players.

I don't like him because he doesn't strive to reach his potential, and he could be a very good player if he really wanted to be.

Doesn't describe many of the white players in the nba, no. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. He just seems like a wannabe bibby in the way he looks is all.

But yeah, the way he handled himself off the court, with that reporter for example, is definitely lacking class and pretty lame in my book.

I thought you were getting at the white thing. White people can wear headbands too, and can have short hair. So he's white, has a shaved head, but usually has hair, and is a guard. He's not really trying to be Bibby because two of his physical traits are the same.

Hehe, I realize that. But currently there are not many white guys in the NBA with that same look. None others that I can think of in fact. I was just relating my own first impression of him which was the look combined with the first time I saw him play he seemed to complain a lot to the refs. Maybe he was just having a bad night, but it stuck out as a pretty big negative and consequently I just don't like him much.

Without Hubie Brown his career looks shaky.
