<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">HOUSTON ? First, Houston Rockets center Yao Ming offered to pick up half of coach Jeff Van Gundy's $100,000 fine from the NBA. Now, Gallery Furniture store owner Jim McIngvale says he would like to pay the fine the NBA gave Van Gundy after the coach's accusation that officials are targeting Yao this postseason. "I would be willing to pay the $100,000 fine that the NBA levied against Mr. Van Gundy because I just admire him for standing up for his employees," McIngvale told Houston television station KRIV on Tuesday. McIngvale said he knows some will laugh at his offer and see it as nothing but a publicity stunt. "I've got the $100,000 and I'm ready to pay it. I like coach Van Gundy because he does the right thing whether it's popular or not. I'm ready to pay it because he stood up for employees. I think it's great."</div> Source
Gallery Furniture Saves You Money! I love Mattress Mack. He has always been a Rockets supporter. So I dont think its a publicity stunt. This guy started off selling furniture under a tent. And now he's got HUGE stores in Houston.
I am willing to put in some money too, i could try to get out a thousand dollars. That should teach the nba to mess with the rockets. Would they let someone do that though?

I think the fans should pay his fine. He's saying exactly what we've been saying the whole time. Each Rockets fan in attendance the next game should donate, or should be given the option to donate towards paying Van Gundy's fine.
Wow! I don't even know who this guy is but thats awesome! Paying the full $100,000 fine just because he loves the Rockets that much...Oh and Yao you're such cheapskate lmao!

Never mind that his next dunk will be his first. Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy didn't take the usual path from basketball coach to folk hero this week. He did it by standing up for one of his guys. He did it publicly, too, knowing he was tweaking one of the most powerful and thin-skinned men in sports ? NBA Commissioner David Stern. And when challenged by Stern, he refused to back down. He turned basketball into a morality play, and along the way, came away looking dramatically different in the hearts and minds of many of this city's basketball fans. These are the same fans who hadn't known quite what to make of him. Meet the new boss ? same as the old boss. For the last three days, Van Gundy has been showered with supportive e-mails, telephone calls and offers to pay the $100,000 fine slapped on him by Stern. The Chronicle has received hundreds of e-mails, the vast majority of them supportive of the coach. Someone sent a box of 100 Grand candy bars to Van Gundy's home. Some of this support surely comes from some of the same people who'd considered him something of a cold fish. They saw him a humorless outsider and a weak replacement for Rudy Tomjanovich.</div> Source Van Gundy has the entire city backing him up now! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Someone sent a box of 100 Grand candy bars to Van Gundy's home.</div> That's hilarious!
Yeah, Stern is soon gonna learn .. when you punk our coach, we punk you.. When you screw our city .. we screw you. Houston isn't as mean as NY or LA .. but we can get nasty. Mack did so much for the Rockets, and Houston in General. He built our training facility, held the Clay Court Championship, Tsunami Relief .. the guy really is a nice person to meet too. Very humble. But, from what I know, he's not even the 'Official Furniture Store' or whatever for the Rockets. That Fact Jack Hilton dude is now. Sad, because Mack really loves the Rockets.
