Why wasn't Nash an MVP when he was with the Mavs? Because he didn't play in the best starting 5 and didn't play in the COY's system that taylors the PG by surrounding him with 4 offensively talented players. Shaq is Shaq where ever he goes. He has 2 undrafted players starting on a championship contender. There's your MVP.

Not so for Steve Nash and the suns. I worry that the league is too mired in tradition to give the mvp to a (deserving) point guard that doesn't have all kinds of endorsement contracts with shoe companies and candy bar manufacturers.
Shaq is having a fairly mediocre season for him, individually. Steve Nash is having a career year, and has emerged as the best point guard in the game. The Phoenix Suns were pretty bad last year, and the only significant difference is the addition of Quentin Richardson and Steve Nash. If I had a vote, I'd give it to Nash.
My vote goes to Nash and if you ever watched the Suns without Steve Nash in the lineup or when he is just taking a break they are hard to watch. Without Nash in the lineup the Suns are an average team but when you plug Nash in there they become a championship contender. Nash gets my vote.

A friend of mine who works for the Bulls' front office told me Shaq finished ahead of Nash by a point or two, but don't take it for granted because it was office talk.
I`m still going with Nash. Subtract Nash from the Suns, subtract success for Pheonix. Plain and simple.

Even if Shaq isn't playing, he gives confidence to any team and makes them a powerhouse whether he's on the floor or on the bench. If Steve is on the bench (with an injury), the Suns pretty much struggle. I'm going with Nash for MVP.
Definately Nash. Miami went to the second round of the playoffs last year so even if they didn't get Shaq they would still be good. Not to mention Pheonix's play without Nash.

Just look at both teams. Miami last year without Shaq got to the second round. Miami was pretty excited about this season due to their performance during the playoffs. However, they got a great player, Shaq, but they still would have been a good team in the playoffs without him. The suns had one of the most horrible season in franchise history. Then...they got an expensive PG, Steve Nash, who turned that horrible season in a 62 WIN SEASON!! The suns lost like 5 games straight with Nash injured..... Sorry...but Nash is the difference between a horrible team and an awesome team. Now...lets look at individual stats. Shaq's PPG, RPG, and FG % all went down this year. Almost every single stat for Nash went up this year. Now who deserves the MVP? NASH.
