Led by Rookie of the Year Emeka Okafor of the Charlotte Bobcats , the first team was rounded out by first overall pick Dwight Howard and Sixer high flyer Andre Iguodala. The second team was dominated by the Atlanta Hawks , with 2005 dunk champion Josh Smith and Josh Childress being joined by Net Nenad Krstic, Jameer Nelson of the Orlando Magic and Boston's Al Jefferson.
Source

I don't know how you could say that the Bulls dominated these selections like that article did. The Hawks had just as many players on there (Childress & Smith). If anything, the Bulls were under-represented, as Nocionni and Duhon were excluded from the 2nd team. I also think that J.R. Smith should have made the team. In the last twenty games he is averaging over 15+ ppg. I realize that these awards are about the entire season, but Smith didn't get the time he deserved until around January. He still finished with a respectable 10.3 ppg. He was definitely snubbed.

Anyways, good to see Big Al Jefferson up there.
who?
Quoting GTRemix:

Josh Smith definately deserved to be on the 1st team.
Josh Smith?! Who did he deserve it more than? Sure he is fun to watch and made the dunk contest interesting again but he doesnt deserve all-rookie first team.
Picking the All Rookie First Team was pretty much a no brainer. The Second Team on the other hand was a lot harder since guys like JR Smith and Duhon weren't picked.

Quoting JWohl:

Josh Smith?! Who did he deserve it more than? He was basically the whole team at a rookie.

He did put up good numbers though, and led all Rookies in BPG as a SF. Actually, I would've put Smith or Childress over Deng, I like Luol, but he missed to many games to get 1st team when he didn't blow those guys out with his production.
Quote:

He had 10 blocks one game. Antione Walker was there, but he was a negative for them, he just stat padded.
I agree with the whole first team (congrats to Iggy), but the 2nd got me thinking. But I`m really suprised no Devin Harris, Noc or Duhon, and no Delonte West, especially if the NBA looks at stats at the near end of the season to give out the teams.
^ Delonte West? He their's no way he should've made it, he missed games [only played 39], didn't even put up amazing numbers [4.5 | 1.7 | 1.4], and him making it would've just been odd. Other players receiving votes, with point totals (first place votes): J.R. Smith, New Orleans, 15 (2); Andres Nocioni, Chicago, 15 (2); Beno Udrih, San Antonio, 11 (1); Chris Duhon, Chicago, 10; Devin Harris, Dallas, 10 (1); Tony Allen, Boston, 6 (1); Nick Collison, Seattle, 3; Anderson Varejao, Cleveland, 2; Shaun Livingston, L.A. Clippers, 2 (1); Trevor Ariza, New York, 1; Sebastian Telfair, Portland, 1; Matt Bonner, Toronto, 1. Delonte West did not even get any votes, not even 1. Matt Bonner only getting 1 is pretty disspaointing, but he didn't do anything to super either.
JR Smith? I agree with Nocioni maybe over Al Jefferson, but JR? The thing about Jefferson is that the coaches pick, and if you watch him, he's real good, he just didn't get the minutes of the others, he was only playing 15 MPG. Childress: 10.1 PPG | 6.0 RPG | 1.9 APG | 47.0% FG | 29.7 MPG Jefferson: 6.7 PPG | 4.4 RPG | 0.77 BPG | 52.8% FG | 14.8 MPG JR Smith: 10.3 PPG | 2.0 RPG | 1.9 APG | 39.4% FG | 24.5 MPG Nocioni: 8.4 PPG | 4.8 RPG | 1.5 APG | 40.1% FG | 23.4 MPG I don't think Childress' pick should be questionable, he really went under the radar to a lot of people, but he had a very good rookie season, and when Walker left he was averaging about 14 PPG, 7-8 RPG, and 2 APG. Smith scored more, but was inefficient, and he assisted more per minute, but Childress destroyed him in rebounds, FG%, and had a better A/T ratio. Childress also scored, rebounded, assisted, and shot better than Noc, though per minute, their numbers are identical except for FG%, so Childress still get's the edge. [Noc PER 29.7 mins: 10.7 PPG | 6.1 RPG | 1.9 APG]
