<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">? Milwaukee Bucks sharpshooter Michael Redd has been telling those close to him that he wouldn't consider signing with the Cavaliers this off-season because he doesn't want to be the second option in an offense. He sat on the bench for years in Milwaukee biding his time and now feels very comfortable that the Bucks have cleared salary-cap space to sign him and build around him. Redd's feelings about not wanting to play second fiddle might indeed become an an issue in the Cavaliers' plans, whatever they are. If the Cavaliers are ever going to land a superstar to play with James, he's likely going to have to be proactive in the recruiting process to make sure there's an understanding. After the Kobe Bryant-Shaquille O'Neal feud, that is a reality in the modern NBA. And it's the reason Shaq's first order of business in Miami was to embrace Dwyane Wade.</div> Source
Welp, you can mark him off our offseason wish list. I say if we don't sign a big name FA, then we'll move Jackson into the starting lineup at SG, but I think the front office is going to work hard to get a shooter.
It's tough to build a team around a shooting guard, even one as good as Michael Redd. I personally feel that Redd is much too much of a ballhog, worse than other renowned ballhogs, like Kobe. Redd has to realize that he's not able to bring Milwaukee to the playoffs alone, but he's going to need more help. The best template is to build with a great PG, then a big man. It'll help a lot of Ford can come back from his injury, but Milwaukee still has to find a good solid big man to help give the Bucks easy points. I don't think it'd be a huge hit in the longterm to not re-sign Redd, although it'd be tough on their fan base to lose their biggest star and biggest hope.

Why would Cleveland even want Redd when there is Hughes, Allen, and Joe Johnson to sign? Hughs and Johnson play better D and Allen is a better shooter. Not to mention that Redd is a little undersized and is a ballhog. I'd say Hughes or Joe Johnson are Clevelands best options.

There is no reason why they would sign with another team when all of their teams are in the playoffs right now.
Yeah, no one would ever sign anywhere for big money. Milwuakee can't build a franchise around Redd, because he doesn't do anything well besides shoot (which he does very well) This makes me mad, because I didn't think he was that kind of player. You can't just learn to pass and rebound, and if you're gonna get a max contract, you better be able to do both. Oh well, there are players who respond to money, so I'm not worrying too much about it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Q: Looking ahead to the draft and free agency, what do you think the Mavericks' biggest needs are? I think they need an athletic big man who can drive and maybe another sharpshooter. What do you guys think and what players in the draft and free agency might you think the Mavs could get? Mike Roach, Irving, Texas SEFKO: Not sure where the Mavericks are headed on the free-agent front. A lot will depend on how the playoff run turns out. They don't have a draft pick this year, as things stand now. They may try to acquire one after the season. There are always teams looking to dump draft picks late in the first round or in the second round. As for free agency, Michael Redd is the No. 1 name on the board, and the Mavericks signed him to an offer sheet three years ago when he was a restricted free agent. They'd love to make another run at him. But Redd is going to command a maximum contract and the Mavericks would have to come up with a complicated sign and trade. It's not impossible, but other options might be more palatable for Milwaukee and Redd. </div> Source Michael Redd a Maverick? The Mavs do have some nice young players, Devin Harris, Marquis Daniels, & Josh Howard. They also have expiring contracts. I realize the Bucks don't have many options, but I don't think Michael Redd deserves to paid franchise-player type money. If the Bucks can grab any combination of those two players, plus an expiring contract of Van Horn it might be a good route to take. PG - Marquis Daniels SG - Desmond Mason SF - Josh Howard PF - Van Horn C - Plus they can re-sign Gadzuric and they have a lottery pick.

There is no reason why they would sign with another team when all of their teams are in the playoffs right now.</div>The only one of those three that I can see resigning will be Larry Hughes. Why would he leave anyways? He's one of the cornerstones of that franchise up there, and they have tons of talent and potential to win a lot of games. He's done great in Washington and he's going to be liable to score up there. Why would he leave? Ray Allen is an iffy one. They had a great season this year, but with all the FAs (Radman, Allen, Evans, Daniels, etc.), they're going to have to make sacrifices, and I think he could be the one. In my opinion, that team is going to build around Rashard Lewis. He's a great player (whom I believe is also a FA), and if it's between him and Ray, they take him. He's still young (Allen is closing in on 30) and he hasn't reached his peak yet. Allen is aging and will be on his decline. Beyond that, he's going to ask for the max wherever he goes. I don't know if he's worth the max at this stage, and for the Sonics, they have a lot of other worries beyond him. Explain to me where they will have cap space to resign Amare in a year if they bring back Joe? They have huge contracts galore on that team with QRich, Nash, and Marion. If they resign Johnson, who will probably ask for quite a bit, that's going to leave them strapped for cash next year when they go to resign Amare. Resigning won't do them any good I think. So, unless he's willing to take the MLE, I'm thinking that they'll let him walk.
Michael Redd can play in a championship team but you can't build a championship team around Michael Redd. He's so one-dimension that he shouldn't get more than 6million a year but unfortunately the Bucks will probably give him 10mil or more to stay. And he should never be a first option on any team. On a legitimate contender he would be a 3rd or 4th option.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting vijay01:</div><div class="quote_post">Redd to Cleveland = playoffs for cleveland</div> Redd to Cleveland = Possible Championship for Cleveland But only if they can get by the Heat.
He flat out doesn't want to win if he's truely gonna act like this. He'll be a second option on any team besides Milwuakee. And it will be funny if they re-sign him, and then bring in somoene who then becomes the first option. His impression of himself is rather inflated.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Schaddy:</div><div class="quote_post"> c'mon, kohl, sign this kid long term!!!</div> Yeah u cant have a poor milwaukee bucks team gettin poorer. even if tey do have the numba 1 pick.
^Agreed. Due to getting the first pick in the draft, Redd should really reconsider and stick around to see if they can really get the team going and out of the hole.
