<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Most have speculated the Cavaliers will go after one of the big four shooting guards this summer: Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Joe Johnson and Larry Hughes. Realistically, it appears Redd will stay put in Milwaukee and Johnson is restricted in Phoenix, and they're talking like they're going to keep him. Allen and Seattle are tens of millions apart, but he's going to demand a max contract on the open market. It's hard to believe the Washington Wizards wouldn't keep their trio of stars (Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas being the others) together, even though Hughes' deal might explode their payroll. Thus, the Cavaliers might go a different direction and consider the Los Angeles Clippers' Bobby Simmons. A candidate to be named Most Improved Player, the four-year vet averaged 16.4 points this season. He's a classic wing that could be paired with James. More importantly, he shot 44 percent on 3-pointers and 47 percent from the field this season. He also made just $800,000 and is unrestricted. Prying players away from the Clippers has never been too hard.</div> Source
Simmons is the right guy for the job, IMO. It could let James play SG and Simmons would be SF I assume. He'd provide us with outside shooting that we've lacked for some time now. But I really want us to make a run at a pure shooter. Redd wants to be the #1 guy on whatever team he decides to join, Allen wants too much money, and Joe Johnson will most likely go back to Phoenix. So I wouldn't mind at all for us to sign Simmons.
