The Cleveland Cavaliers were told Jackson was not interested a few days after conducting a conference call with him last week.
Source What's wrong with Adelman?
Good. I hope that he will entertain the Kings offer seriously. I am not being biased here but he could be PART of the plan to push Sacramento into the promised land. Jackson should listen to the Kings and here is why: - The Maloofs would have no reservations paying Phil however much money he wanted. That would not be an factor. - Jackson wanted to stay near the west because of his GF and you don't get much further west than Sacramento. - Jackson wanted to go to a team that either could or was a few pieces away from a championship. The Kings are a good team with a few holes (like defence) and I think that Jackson could also help fill those holes. It would give him a challenge to getting ring #10 but it would not be impossible. - He could provide the winning influence that the Kings need to take it to the next level. - He could make Sacramento a more likely destination for potential free agents. - Sacramento has a lot to offer Jackson as a city in that it is not as hectic and busy as other major markets, which may help him feel comfortable with his whole "Zen" thing. - He would be a change of pace for the Kings, something that I think is greatly needed. - He would have the necessary players to run the triangle (for the most part) [Miller, Bibby, Peja] - He would have the respect and support of the entire locker room. - He would not have to deal with Kobe Bryant again. - The Kings would be the kind of team that could easily buy into the triangle scheme and the #1 reason - He could stick it to the Lakers more than ever thought possible by bringing a championship to their arch rivals, The Sacramento Kings. Hopefully, we could get him and I for one would be all for it. And to answer your question about Adleman Shapecity, I think its just another case of the same voice being on at you all the time and just tuning it out after a while. Adleman has had 8 solid years in Sacramento but an opportunity like this is impossible to pass up. For all the success that Adleman has had in his career as a coach in the regular season and the playoffs, he has never won the big one. He got close in 1992 (? I think that was the year) but never got the job done. If you could have the best in the business, no matter what job, wouldn't you want to take it?
Phil Jackson would definitely help the Kings...im sure it wouldnt happen though.I actually hope it doesnt happen. He coached the Lakers,he is the devil.I dont think hes very fond of the Kings anyhow.
Yes I suppose Adelman has been the head coach long enough. He's always been a good coach to put a team together, but never able to get them into the Finals. The Kings are in the right spot for Phil Jackson to come in and be the closer once again. The Kings have the right players to fit the Triangle offense. Peja would be deadly with the shots it creates for perimeter players. Phil can also get his nature fix, being that Tahoe is less than 2 hours away from Sac. There are plenty of reasons for him to be interested in Sac Town. It would bring life back to the Kings-Lakers rivalry as well.
I think Adelmen was great for the Kings back when they were loosey-goosey, but now he seems out of place. With Vlade, Webber, and Christie gone, all of the Kings flair and flash is gone. Adelmen was always very lax about letting the guys get fancy, because that is how they usually went on runs. They would get so fired up by their fancy passing and great team basketball that they could just bury other teams. The Kings don't have those 3 players any more, and the offense seems to be lacking something. They need something more structured to make up for losing their 3 best play makers. I would be all for Jackson coming to Sacramento, I think he would bring a lot of confidence back to the Kings, which they could definately use after gutting their team this last year.
This unbelievable, Phil Jackson ain't a very good coach. He's always just had the players. Bulls, Jordan, Pippen, etc, Lakers Shaq, Kobe, etc. The Kings don't got a team like those teams had. Who would want Jackson. He's not a very good coach he's just always had players. So just think about that.

Phil Jackson is a brilliant coach, and arguably the best ever. I know you will think those comments are biased coming from a Laker fan, but let's look at the UN-biased facts. Other coaches had the opportunity to coach Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe and did not win the Championship. Those OTHER coaches were some of the best in the league, but Phil Jackson was able to take those players and put them over the top. What makes Phil Jackson a great coach is his ability to get the most out of less talented players. Robert Horry, Rick Fox, Mark Madsen, Steve Kerr, the list is long, and PJax helped define a role for each of these players. The sign of a good coach is one who can control his team. You think it's easy to get through to a superstar like Michael Jordan, who has an enormous ego and is not used to hearing someone say 'no' to him. Phil Jackson demanded all his superstar players to be less-selfish and trust their teammates to help them win.

Quote:

May 12, 2005 -- The Knicks are expected to get a run for their money from the Kings for the services of Phil Jackson. Sources close to the Zen Master say the Kings offer a lot of intriguing possibilities and could be the pick if he does not return to the Lakers. If Jackson does head to the Kings, that could open up a window of opportunity for Isiah Thomas to pursue current Kings coach Rick Adelman, who would be unemployed. Adelman has just one year left on his pact and is said to be angry the Kings contacted agent Todd Musburger before consulting him. Jackson considers ownership of utmost importance, and it's known he has a strong liking for the Maloof family. Jackson spent a weekend at the Maloof-owned Palms Hotel in Las Vegas last August for Michael Jordan's fantasy camp. He also attended the Maloof Family Holiday Party in Los Angeles in December. Two of Jackson's children now reside in the Bay Area, close to Sacramento. It's also known his girlfriend, Lakers VP Jeanie Buss, if Jackson cannot land back in L.A., would prefer him in Sacramento, only a commuter flight away from La-La Land. The final factor in the Kings' favor is they are closer to a championship than any other team in the mix — including the Lakers, Knicks and Blazers.
link
hes not going to the Kings...the Kings are on a downfall, IMO...they'll be lucky to be one of the lower seeds for the playoffs next year unless they make some big free agent acquisitions...I think Jax is returning to LA, but if he doesnt for some reason, then I do feel the Knicks have more potential than Sac...
^That post was doing fine until I read "they'll be lucky to be one of the lower seeds in the playoffs next year..."Now i realize that people might get sick of a team making the playoffs over and over again and being a top seed most of the time, but theres no need to hate.Kings...lucky to make the playoffs?Might want to think that over.No Jackson isnt coming to the Kings. No the Knicks dont have more potential than the Kings. If youre speaking in terms of getting Phil then yes NY has more potential. As far as being a successful team goes,no.A somewhat healthy Kings team will easily make the playoffs.
