<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This is pretty good except I want Best back, by all means. Honeslty Best coming back would be better than keeping Zoran Planinic and drafting Aaron Miles. We can keep T.Best, trade Zoran for a future 2nd rounder, either in this year or next years draft doesnt really matter. And then we draft a pg next season, I dont see the rush to add a young pg this year with any of our picks, unless we plan on trading Kidd.</div> I love Best too, but Vaughn is small already, and with Best out there at 5-11, it's gonna be hard for him to guard opposing players. Don't get me wrong, he's as scrappy as they get and I love his professional intensity, but I'd rather have a playmaker like Vaughn or another good passing PG because this upcoming season, unlike this one, I doubt RJ and VC will both be sitting at the same time. We'll already have a high scorer on the floor, we won't need his sparkplug offense as much. It may hurt the Nets financially, toward getting that PF (maybe a million or two), but I do believe keeping Best is possible. Your plan would work, with Best playing second backup after Vaughn (or vice versa) at the point, drafting a big, but I'd still like to keep Zoran because I still believe he can get better. He has one more year on his contract, let's just see how he does. Also, we'll need a backup RJ at the SF spot; RJ and VC cannot be backing each other up. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I say draft as many talented young frontcourt guys as possible, so you can have them pushing each other for minutes in the rotation, so we can finally have some quality depth. Another thing I dont like about your lineup is Donyell Marshall & Nenad playing & starting in the frontcourt together, it seems a bit soft, need someone willing to play more under the basket on both ends. I mean Donyell will be standing out at the 3 point line, while Nenad is taking 15 foot mid range shots all game. So in a sense with such a move we have not addressed our need for a more inside physical pressence.</div> That's why I say draft Ike Diogu. If you're looking for a monster and banger down low (not to mention a skilled one), then Diogu's your man. Then why are we signing Donyell Marshall people might ask? I'm not sure I can answer that, but I think it's a better plan to to sign Donyell and draft Diogu, than to sign Swift and draft Diogu or worst, a swingman. With Doneyll and Diogu, the Nets will have an incredibly versatile lineup, and Lawrence Frank will have much more options available, being able to adjust his minutes per game based on what he needs... another long bomb threat, or a guy to eat up the lane; both of which can rebound and block shots.
To be honest i don't think (and hope) that none of the star players will leave the team. Especially Kidd as him and vince are a great partnership and if they stay, and a good center comes new jerseys way i see good things happening for the nets in the future

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">has any1 heard any new about da nets. its been real quiet. i wonder wats goin on. any rumors?</div> Nope, no real heavy rumors coming out of the tri-state. The only rumor that seems to be holding a little life to it , is that New Jersey is trying to trade up into the lotttery spot by giving up the future Clippers pick. And if they are able to move into the lottery they are aiming for a pg, either Felton or Jack. I dont think moving into the lottery to take a point guard is very smart, but that sems to be the rumor with the most life. Other than that, yes its very quiet, but its like that for alot of teams this early in the offseason, with the playoffs still having a decent amount of ways to go before they are over. So sit back and relax for now, I think things will heat up soon, with a bit of moving and shaking on by Rob and the rest of the front office.
I say we get swift because he can play down low and he can run the floor with the big 3. I also think that we should draft a guy like Chris Taft or Charlie Vilanueva because those guys are some big physical power fowards who can get down low and make things happen with their size and athleticism. If they pick up swift though that may change their draft mentality i think the next biggest need is a backup for VC or RJ, there we could draft a guy like Mcants who is rising in draft stock or Fransico Garcia who can score from anywhere on the floor and i think that they would fit well with this team.
im just hopin everythin goes good this offseason and nothin like wat happened with martin last offseason.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">im just hopin everythin goes good this offseason and nothin like wat happened with martin last offseason.</div> Well Bruce Ratner has already allowed the Nets to spend spend spend, but also there's no player that is leaving that was as siginificant as Kenyon Martin, so I think the Nets will be in good shape by the time training camp rolls along.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">^ ^ If they did that trade, id no longer be a nets fan</div> That shows how much of a real Nets fan you are. When we got rid of Shaq, people expected me to hate the lakers and love the heat. but although I was a shaq fan, now i don't like shaq and i am a laker 4 life. you are a jason kidd fan not a nets fan.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting KL32:</div><div class="quote_post">the only thing i can say is that they should have taken hakim warrick in the draft</div> Still not sold on Warrick being a Power Forward for a full 82 games, I need to see it first and then I might say we made a bad decision. But until then even with the ofseason of not getting Reef or any legit 4-man, I still stand by Rod's decsion to take the best player he felt was available, instead of an under sized bigman. I think the 2nd round was most disappointing because Chris Taft was drafted by Golden State right before we were surpose to pick at 43. And we left some pretty good frontcourt guys on the board like Ryan Gomes and Lawerence Roberts, who I think could have been immediate help and staels for the 2nd round. But instead we went with the unknown overseas kid Illic...which scares me cause we already got Krstic...and overeas guys most of the time are crap shoots..so the odds of getting another foregin big as good or better than the one you already have is slim. But we wont know till about 2 or 3 years from now whether we made the right choice in the 2nd round.
I like Gomes, but he's not even 6-8. He has power moves that works in the NCAA but I don't think they'll translate well in the league. However, if Shawn Marion is playing power forward, I guess Gomes can too.

I think if Gomes can turn into a Corliss Williamson type player for Boston or another team somewhere down the road off the bench...I think its a success
would yall rather have this roster or this one Jason Kidd Vince Carter Richard Jefferson K-Mart Nenad Kristic or Jason Kidd Jason Richardson Richard Jefferson K-Mart Nenad Kristic i was just thinking of it and wanted yall response

I remember when the Nets had K-Mart and Kittles, they would go on long scoring droughts. When Carter came, and there was a drought, he would break it every time. So, that K-Mart-Carter team would have all the strengths, without all of the weaknesses of the near-Championship team that the Nets had.
I think you guys need a big presence inside. NOt someone who plays good defense but who also can get 10 rebounds nightly basis and maybe 10-15 points. With Big 3 and the addition of that center would be great. And with J Kidd, i don't see why not.
what about drew gooden? can give 10+ points, athletic enough, plays solid D, solid offense... not a superstar, but should be a good fit for nets...
