I was reading this around other forums and I realized that we never got a 1st rounder after trading TMAC to Orlando. I checked all sorts of Draft history and things like that and I found nothing saying about us attaining a 1st rounder from Orlando.

This is the quote that NBA.com said, "Traded by Toronto to Orlando in exchange for a future first round draft pick in a sign-and-trade deal (Aug. 3, 2000)."

Maybe this year we could get the first rounder or something like that and that will totally change our draft perspective giving us 5 picks. So does anyone know what we picked with the TMAC first rounder, or did we receive it yet?

A conditional first round pick can sometimes expire if the conditions are never met. I.e., Orlando would could have protected it (probably through the lottery for the next 3 years or so) and although most protected picks become unprotected at some point, they could also withdraw the pick if it doesn't get realized. It's not a great deal, but that type of conditional pick is better than nothing, since it's at least a chance for a pick.

I found out the answer and it sort of sucks, we basically traded TMAC for the Junk Yard Dog, here is what actually happenned.

*Detroit (from Sacramento via Orlando, via Toronto) (Sacramento has the option to keep this pick.) Detroit receives a future Orlando 1st Round pick via Toronto. (Jerome Williams) (022201) the Orlando pick was acquired by Toronto in in the (McGrady 8-03-00) deal, Orlando receives future Sacramento 1st Round Pick (Nick Anderson trade 8-3-99)

Well T-mac was unhappy in T.dot, he didnt wanna be under Vince's spot light, so he had to be traded, him or Vince. At the time Vince was alot better. So t-mac had to go. Very sad thing to see... [IMG]

That's not even why, Tmac would've left anyways, let's be serious here, he got to go back to his hometown, he was supposed to play with Grant Hill, and it would've been a very good situation. That also counters the "he didn't want to be behind Vince" because, why would he go and play with Grant Hill if he wanted to be out of Vince's spotlight?

Grant Hill was better than Vince at the time, it doesn't change anything for Tmac.
