Such a move would likely become controversial because Goodwin is one of the league's power brokers and has helped guide James into becoming the NBA's most marketable image. Akron Beacon Journal</div> From hoopshype.com NBA rumors This struck me as wrong. He is gonna fire the guy that helped him secure all his huge endorsements? Nobody even imagined that he would get the kind of money that he got from Nike before stepping foot on the court but Goodwin made it happen. Some loyalty huh?
Yes, this is a quite interesting situation. It seems that he doesn't want Goodwin to have a good chunk of the check when he gets that max deal. I don't know what to make out of this story, it's really out of character for LeBron. But then again, it's too early to make judgements. Let the story ride for a couple weeks, and we will get the juice if this is out of greed or not.
Maybe all the stories that have been leaked are getting on his nerves. I don't blame Lebron for this, because he tries his hardest to stay out of the media, but somehow quotes from "him" keep making it out into the public. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't be happy about that either.
The guy makes how much money a year and he still cant even spare a tiny percentage of his earnings to his agent that made those contracts possible in the first place?! This isnt the first story Ive heard that shows that LeBron's greedy....
Wait, all of a sudden his agent didn't get any money off him? This guy is set for life off of the contracts he got for lebron in 2 years. Why are people worrying about him?
Goodwin is a sneaky guy. I am pretty sure when LeBron becomes a FA, he would have been dialing up other teams to look for potential offers to fill his bank account. LeBron's friends are now in business. And LeBron's friends and his family isn't going to let LeBron make any wrong decisions (like going to NY).

Some loyalty huh? </div> If the agent got his commission, then there should be no further obligation, moral or otherwise. An agent's JOB is to negotiate for his client. The client, in return, is expected to pay the agent. There is absolutely nothing else to the relationship. Certainly, nothing like "if the relationship is mutually beneficial financially, then you may not terminate it." Where does it say that an NBA player should stick with the same agent throughout his career? Why can't a player hire an agent for specific deals, for instance (just like you'd hire a lawyer for specific legal issues)? I don't see why there's anything wrong with that. If I was LeBron, I think I'd do the same damn thing. He doesn't need to worry about getting tons more money. He's already set. So why the hell should he continue to pay some high-priced agent?
