He did make some huge decisions. He signed Nash to 11 mill a year over 5 years (and he's lived up to his contract thus far), he decided not to trade Marion, and sign Q, while keeping JJ and not signing a starting center. He added athleticsm with Hunter, and added depth during the season with JimJax and Walter at cheap prices. Letting Caparakpa go was probably a bad decision, but it didn't break the team or anything. I don't know the name of the Sonics GM off the top of my head, but he should of been a canidate for GMOY for not doing anything stupid in the summer or during the season. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">What a season for the Suns huh? I can only imagine the All NBA Teams </div> Well they did have 3 All-Stars...You'll probably see Nash on the first team, Amare on the second team and Marion on the third team.
No love for Isiah Thomas? But really, I don't think there's anyone else that could take this award. Granted he basically stayed pat and signed some really good players, but that can backfire as much as it goes right.

He doesn't give up the best player on the team in Wade when trading for Shaq. Somehow manages to get rid of one of the worst contracts in Brian Grant. Somehow manages to keep Eddie Jones. While EJ still has a bad contract, compared to Brian Grant he's a steal. Signing players is so much easier and requires no GM skill if the price is right. Not only is it harder to get a good trade than it is to sign a player, but it should be a crime on how completely lopsided this trade was. So after giving up 3 starters and having no salary cap space to sign players, he uses the MLE to sign a starting PG and a backup C. No other team used the MLE better than the Heat did. Signs a backup PG in Keyon Dooling for the minimum salary to replace Rafer Alston. Signs Shandon Anderson for the minimum salary to help with the perimter defense. Signs Christian Laettner for the minimum salary to add veteran experience and to backup Haslem. Trades Malik Allen for Steve Smith to add veteran experience, 3pt shooting, and give cap space flexibility. Signs Alonzo Mourning to a minimum contract to give more depth to the Heat's Power Rotation. Riley not only had a tougher task at hand than Colangelo did but he did an even better job then Colangelo. He was more of a lock for GMOY than Nash or Shaq were for MVP. ___________________________________________________________ Phoenix Suns are quickly becoming the most overrated team in all of basketball. Look at what they did this season: <ul>[*]They had 3 guys make the All-Star team (not a suprise since they're the most talented 5 in all of the NBA) [*]They had Amare in the dunk contest (don't care, just used as an example) [*]They had Nash in the Skills Challenge (don't care, just used as an example) [*]They were represented in the Celebrity Challenge (don't care, just used as an example) [*]They had 2 players in the 3pt contest (2 players?! Damon Jones was clearly snubbed for this contest and somehow the Suns got 2 players in it) [*]They have the MVP in Steve Nash (Ok kool, Nash was the MVP, he earned it) [*]They have the COY in Mike D'Antoni (How the hell are you the COY when you have the MVP?!) [*]They probably have the GMOY in Brian Colangelo (I don't know how he'll win it over Riley but then again...)[/list]
