Here's an update on the Warrior workouts ... OAKLAND - Joey Graham, a small forward out of Oklahoma State, is thrilled about being considered one of the top players of the senior class. Projected as a mid-to-late first rounder, he is expected to be one of the first seniors taken in the June 28 NBA draft. "I need to see (my name) keep going up," said Graham, who has also worked out for the New York Knicks. "This is exciting. I'm getting to go to places I've never been before. I've never been to Oakland." <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Graham -- a superior athlete at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds -- said he would love to creep up high enough to be drafted by the Warriors in the No. 9 spot, which they are most likely to draw at the May 24 draft lottery. The Warriors got a good look at Graham on Thursday as he was one of four players to participate in the team's first workout of draft candidates.</div> Source I really like Joey Graham, he's a workhorse and prides himself on his defense. They have him being able to bench press 400+lbs, so he should be able to come right in and punish opposing swing players. Overall this first group of players are all "swing" position players. Could this indicate the Warriors are very interested in moving Dunleavy in the off-season? Or does this indicate the Warriors might be trying to trade out of the 9 spot?
Thanks for the update, Shape. Joey Graham sounds like he has a good attitude. Maybe he could be like a our own version of Shawn Marion or something. I'm suprised he'd love to be a Warrior since so many draft picks refuse to be Warriors... or maybe it's because it's a sign that he'll be a #9 instead of a late first round and that's really why he's excited.

I'm not sure we would trade Dunleavy. Mullin likes him a lot

I don't know what will happen to Dunleavy, but we need something done about our perimeter defense. It's great to have players that can do many things, but c'mon we allowed some horrible fg % allowed and if we intend on keeping Zarko and Pietrus, we need a real starting small forward that can be a stalwart on defense. Like Monty said we need some shutdown defenders out on the floor that know the game so it's not a huge deal if Graham, let's say, can't create his own shot. Just as long as they plays tough defense and hits the standing perimeter shot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Workout update: The Warriors held two sessions of workouts Monday for potential draftees. The first group included two Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets -- center Luke Schenscher, a second-round bubble projection, and point guard Will Bynum. The workout also featured two local players in St. Mary's point guard E.J. Rowland and Stanford center Rob Little, who played under Warriors coach Mike Montgomery. The second group was highlighted by Syracuse forward Hakim Warrick, who is expected to go mid-first round. Warrick, who worked out with Pacific center Guillaume Yango, Kansas point guard Aaron Miles and Texas Tech guard Ronald Ross, said he would love to go with the Warriors at No. 9. "It would be a great opportunity. (Davis) would help my game," said Warrick, who won the 2004 national title with the Carmelo Anthony-led Orangemen. "I definitely think it will be a nice fit. They're a young and up-and-coming team. They've really got a lot of talent."</div> Source
Wow those are good 2nd round prospects, especially Wil Bynum. Luke Schenscher would be all right, although he's kind of laterally slow, he runs the floor, he rebounds, has knowledge of the game, can probably pass well from the high post, can alter some shots with his wingspan. Warrick? It's hit or miss with that guy. The guy is not that good from the free throw line, he's unproven man to man defender, many questions about his success at being a converted power forward to small forward. Is he a good dribble penetrator? He's kind of unorthodox if he's going to be playing small forward since his game is about putbacks and playing with his back to the basket and less about the faceup game... He is an amazing athlete though. 6'10, 210 lbs is pretty light.
