Wah? Bruce Bowen is listed as a forward, not a guard so is it even possible for him to get the award for the guard spot?

    Good question.

Here is the list of guys whom would come in next (runner-ups):

    Shaquille O?Neal 16 Points (3)
    Allen Iverson 16 Points (6)
    Kobe Bryant 12 Points (3)
    Shawn Marion 9 Points (4)
    Manu Ginobili 9 Points

    Parentheses denotes 1st Team votes

Even though I first was a little suprised with the absence of players like Marion and AI, I`d agree with the list.

Larry Hughes is also a guard and Tayshaun a F, it's not like Hughes took Tayshaun's spot. Bowen is a G/F, not strictly a forward, Tayshaun never plays guard.

    yes

Well you see Larry Hughes is a guard and Tayshaun is a forward hence Larry is one of the top two defensive guards and tayshaun wasnt considered one of the top two defensive forwards. They arent saying that Hughes is better defensivly than Tayshaun is.

Shawn Marion is not on the team, as you may have noticed, becuase he didnt deserve it. He is a great defensive small forward. Against Power Forwards, where he played most of the year, he is only a slightly above average defender. It isnt his fault but he just can't handle the bigger PFs. As a SF he was one of the best defensive players in the league but as a PF he is nothing too special.

The one guy I really felt was slighted was Shaq. I can't discredit either BWallace or Camby because they are both great defenders but Shaq can really change a game defensivly more so than any other player. He doest block too many shots but if there was a "changed shot" statistic he would lead the league. He forces guys to shy away from attacking the basket.

Very well deserving of Larry Hughes. It's nice to see some Wizards get some recognition...

Yeah, but at the NBA site, Bowen's profile says he's a F, not a G/F. Oh yeah and at the ESPN site it says he's a small forward. I was just a bit confused by that.

Yea I know, but he plays guard sometimes in lineups, Tayshaun is never put at guard, I remember the rules for the voting was that you could only pick a player in a position where they've played a fair amount of minutes in. Defensively Bowen guards the opposing SG many times along with Ginobili, they're interchangeable.

Are you sure? Because I think once in the past there were 4 guards on the All Defensive Team. Not quite sure.

I pretty much agree with the list. They were all deserving of it but I'd still like to see Marion included there somewhere.

If the guards could play Forward too, but I don't know, I don't remember which year that was...

I personally would of put Prince on the All-Defensive team instead of Duncan, simply because he missed too many games to make the first team IMO. I think it's safe to say though that he's a lock for the HOF...

    Where's Pape and Milt?

I agree with it outside of keeping Marion off the list. And JWohl, I'm sorry, but when it comes to All League Teams, it doesn't matter which forward position you play or what guard position you play at all. They choose 2 guards and 2 forwards, not a PG/SG and PF/SF. He should have been on one of the teams. In my opinion, KG should not have made it. His defensive stats, at least steals and blocks, weren't as good as Marions. The only reason KG made it is because he's KG, everyone knows him. He's a superstar, blah blah blah. For him to be sighted probably would have been considered insane by a lot of casual NBA fans that hardly know who Shawn Marion is. Marion was far more derserving than KG, and probably more deserving than Kirilenko, simply cause Kirlenko only played half the season.

I don't think you understood what JWohl was saying. While I'm a fan of Marion myself, it is true that Marion is not that good a defender at the PF spot. He get's beat up by opposing PF's, but is not a liability because he beats them up on the other end, and usually out performs them overall. Marion is a very good defender at SF, but at PF he's at best average, and this season he guarded PF's for the most part.

...but Marion's main defensive impact was off the ball with steals and blocks, but I don't know if he really deserved a All-Defensive spot for his defense at PF.
