Hughes is the eighth player in franchise history named to an All-Defensive team, and the first since Manute Bol in 1985-86. Hughes also became the fourth player in franchise history to be named to the First Team, and the first since Bobby Dandridge in 1978-79. ?I?m very excited about this honor and it?s a credit to my teammates and coaches,? said Hughes. ?I made it a goal of mine to become a defensive leader of this team this season.? </div> http://www.nba.com/wizards/news/hughes_050512.html
Wow..I could of sworn I posted his..my bad... Congrats. to him, he really deserved it. He played above average D throughout the year, and for a lot of the times played awesome D. He could be consistent on this team if he can be consistent with his D. Too bad it didn't help us beat the Heat in game 3
Yeah, didn't help at all, Kobe 8 Ball. I was looking for Hughes to solidify his position on the All-Defensive team, to prove wrong any doubters (there always are a few). Needless to say I was disappointed, he took far too many risks on defense, ocassionally he slacked and he looked demoralized defensively through the majority of the mid-3rd through 4th quarter. In no way am I saying that Hughes is not a sensational defensive player, he certainly is. But last night he was really pitiful, I understand it was a tough assignment, but he simply didn't execute at all.
I mentioned that towards the end of my post. Nonetheless, he took far too many risks, went to attempt to steal the ball far too often, and he was overly anxious in his defense in the first half. From the middle of the 3rd on, he was lagging and not sticking to Wade at all.
