Pierce & Kobe? The Celtics could send Paul Pierce to the Lakers for Lamar Odom? Some sort of packaging would have to be done to make the numbers match, but Odom ($11.46 million next season) is a versatile player who can play either forward position, and could fit in with that vision of weaning Al Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins for starting roles. Again, Antoine Walker's departure would be needed to make this work. What do you gouys think? Pierce or Odom?
I'm not familiar with what the fans of the Celts and Lakers think of these guys but it sounds like a fair swap. Odom is much more effective in the east.
I wouldn't mind Paul Pierce on the Lakers, but there better be another trade to land a big man before the Lakers add another SG/SF to the team.
fair swap? you have to be kidding me? Paul Pierce although isn't as good as Tracy or Kobe but he is still an elite guard in this league. Elite is something you can never say about Odom.

yeah Paul Pierce is amazing but i think LA has enough players on SF and on SG we don?t need one coz we have already the best. So keep your PP.
i would personally love for this to happen but i definately think we'd need to get a big man before we get rid of odom. i dont think its a fair swap for the celtics though because PP is an all star and IMO definately one of the best clutch players in the league, the way he comes through in crunch time 4th qtr. if we could get this deal, i think it would help us greatly Maybe a lineup like this: Pg-Kobe/Atkins(?)/Vujacic SG-Pierce/George SF-Butler/Jones/Walton PF-Grant/Cook/Medvedenko C-pickup(eddy curry,Z,or jerome james?)/Mihm -or- PG-Atkins(?)/Vujacic SG-Kobe/George SF-Pierce/Butler/Jones PF-Grant/Cook/Medved C-Pickup/Mihm
Yeah, they've been talking about an Odom/Pierce trade around here, too. I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. The problem for you guys is that you'd definitely have to take either Mark Blount or Raef LaFrentz in the deal. Salarywise, that's bad, but either one instantly becomes your best big man. I think the only way you see something like this happen is late in the offseason, and that's only if the Lakers fail to land a big.
I respect paul peirce's game, and i could be wrong but he has probly hit about as many clutch shots as anyone in the nba. However, i wouldnt exactly want paul on the lakers. I just dont think it will be a good fit, but you can never say never. i wouldnt hate the deal thou.
Interesting to hear this is also being discussed in Boston, 44Thrilla. I agree, the Lakers will probably have to take LaFrentz or Blount in the deal. I'm not sure which player Ainge wants to get rid of more. LaFrentz had a nice comeback year and played better than Blount all season, however LaFrentz has a long expensive contract. Mark Blount on the other hand didn't fit with how the Celtics played last season, but his contract is a little easier to deal with. The Celtics are trying to put a running team on the court, so Odom makes sense. Paul Pierce might have played himself out of he Celtic's favor after that emotional play when he received his 2nd technical in the playoffs. The Celtics are taking a risk though, by not having Pierce, and possibly Walker and/or Payton back next season. Odom is also a question mark since he's having shoulder surgery. From the Lakers perspective adding Paul Pierce would be a great fit to play alongside Kobe. It gives the Lakers a consistent scorer, and Pierce has always been a warrior on the court. He also takes it hard to the rim and is always one of the league leaders in free throw attempts. Adding LaFrentz or Blount works for the Lakers. Blount is probably a better fit for the Triangle Offense, assuming PJax is back, and his contract isn't as heavy on the Lakers cap space. LaFrentz would also be a nice fit, but his contract is twice as much as Blount's and with LaFrentz theres always an injury concern. I'm not sure what else the Lakers give up in this deal though, maybe Devean George and Slava as the fillers? Pierce + Blount for Odom + Slava (expiring contract) + George (expiring contract) Lakers Lineup PG - Atkins SG - Kobe SF - Pierce PF - Blount C - Mihm With Pierce aboard this puts Butler on the bench or part of another trade for the Lakers to pursue. The Celtics on the other hand receive Odom and a lot of cap space. PG - Banks SG - Ricky SF - Odom PF - Jefferson C - LaFrentz
I think we should wait for a coach to make any blockbuster deal. Phil expressed interest in Lamar Odom, Caron Butler, and Chris Mihm. Let's not trade right away. But I think we can go through the draft without a coach because we know our needs already.
hey, if PP comes packaged with Blount or LaFrenz Im all for this trade. Hopefully they wont ask for Butler.

I can name at least 5 guys with more clutch shots than Pierce.

Odom is nowhere near as good as Pierce, we're dreaming if we can pull this one off. Besides I agree we should focus on getting ourselves a decent C before another F/G.
