<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">At 6 feet, 11 inches, Andray Blatche tends to stand out in a crowd. Whether he's strolling through a mall or battling for a rebound in the Jordan Classic at Madison Square Garden, Blatche rises above the milling crowd. As he goes pro straight out of prep school, Blatche is even head and shoulders above the rest of the NBA's list of early entry candidates. Blatche is the only one of the nine high school players who have decided to enter the NBA's June 28 draft who measures taller than 6-foot-8. And that fact, too, makes Blatche stand out as he bucks the latest trend. Until last year, the rule of thumb was that the only players worthy of skipping college to go directly to the NBA were the ones blessed with an irrefutable, uncoachable and distinctly measurable trait - height. Kevin Garnett, an insanely athletic 6-11 forward, started the preps-to-pros parade in 1995. Six years later, the 2001 draft included four high schoolers among the first eight picks. Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry and DeSegana Diop all stood at least 6-11. </div> Source
And last week, at a towering 6-2 (in shoes) I was the first pick in the draft at my 5th grade cousin's birthday party. It lead to much success as I took the game by storm with my first touch of the game, highlighted by my slashing drive up the middle where I screamed out loud, dunking on Billy Anderson, as he clutched his urine soaked pants. He later would have to be removed from the driveway by his mother and spoon fed cake to help erase the nightmares!
