With the 76er's season ending in an early first round playoff exit the next step to next season is the 2005 Draft. The upcoming draft is a solid one in which I think the 76ers should try and move up from their current picks. Lets try and keep all draft related news/discussion in this thread.

With that being said, what do you guys think the Sixers need from the draft? Something they lack is size, and a lot of people think Philly should draft some bigs to add some depth into the frontcourt. What the Sixers also need to address is their bench, they need to look for players in the draft who can come in and fill a role. The 76ers have their nucleus with AI and Webber, but what they need are role players to make their team complete.

EDIT: Billy Kings is quite fond of this years draft class. With that being said, the 76ers basically took back their 45 pick that was supposed to go to Detroit, buit a trade with that Jazz got them the 60th pick, and that was shipped to Detroit. The 76ers 06 second rund pick goes to the Jazz.

So who do the 76ers take? They need a backup PF, and a backup point guard.

the 76ers don't have any draft picks in the upcoming draft. the only chance is to trade for picks but i think they should better trade for some experienced players.

I could have sworn someone said the Sixers still have a second round pick or something.

At the moment they do, but there's a very good chance that it will be going to Detroit.

The Sixers don't have a draft pick this year but as you know in the second round anything can happen. Just two years ago the Sixers got Kyle Korver from the Nets for cash and Willie Green from the Sonics (I believe) for cash. With all the high schoolers declared this year has the make of being a very deep draft. Players such as Salim Stoudamire, Jawad Williams, Nate Robinson, Sean Banks, and Louis Williams should all be on the board in the second round and don't be suprised if Billy King makes a deal. I would like to see Billy move into the late first, early second round and grab Ronny Turiaf, a big power forward out of Gonzaga that can block shots and score at times (had a 40 point game at Gonzaga). Even though we don't have a draft pick, I am sure Billy King will be very active on draft day especially in the second round.

The reason we don't own our second round pick is that we owe it to the Pistons way back for the Theo Ratliff trade we made in 1997, werid isn't it...

we don't have a first round pick but we've got a middle second round pick and this year the draft seems to be pretty deep. As stated above, we could get some quality talent even at our low draft position. If we move up a little to the early second round, there's going to be plenty of good college players left like salim, nate robinson, julius hodge, and daniel ewing.

I think the key to improving our team for next year will be to find a gem in this draft, and it can very well happen.

We need a shooting-guard who has a more all-around game then Korver. Also a shooting guard who should be taking the 17 foot jumpers that C-Webb is taking. Willie Green will never get the minutes to prove himself under O'Brien.

Atleast get a back-up for Korver who can do more than shoot threes. I do not think McKie will be the answer either to a succesful backcourt.

    Korver is an SF.

I`d love a backup for Sammy. All we have is Marc Jackson who I like and has alot of heart, but I think we should look for someone who can go into the mess of it all for the ball more than Jackson.

Anyone think we should maybe trade for a first rounder? Wouldn't be a bad move IMO.

If anything we could get an early 2nd round IMO.

I think King should look defensive if anything. Defense wins rings.

do you think that the sixers should try trading for the celtics first round pick, cuz the celtics already have enough youth. i think we could send our second round draft pick, if we have one, with some cash to the celtics for the pick. any thoughts?

I really wish we still had our first round pick but we screwed that up giving them away. So we might not even have any draft picks if Bill can't get another 2nd rounder. I think we need to do anything an everything to move Webber to someone. And the team I think would do it was the Knicks I would want the Knicks 9th pick in the 1st Round. Then I would pick Sean May with the 9th pick...

Then I would try to sign Larry Hughes.........

    PG Allen Iverson
    SG Larry Hughes
    SF Andre Iguodala
    PF Sean May
    C Sam Dalembert

    ^^^
all a dream but it's nice to have dreams

You can dream, but Webb is not likely to move anywhere for the rest of his career and you should be really glad. On NBA Draft they got the 76ers taking Donell Taylor who played at a local community college where I'm at, he is a solid player from UAB btu I honestly don't think the 76ers need his type of player.

WHo backs up AI at the point? I think they go there or with someone who can play PF or C to back up CWEBB and/or Dalembert

John Salmons, but he's also a really versatile player. But I would draft a Center or PF since there's a shortage there while AI basically players the entire game.

Luke Schrenscher sounds like a good solid back-up for Center or Alex Acker at point, maybe Orien Greene at point, he's a very good prospect at point considering he's 6'5".
