<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After spending the 2003-04 season playing with three different teams, Bobcats point guard Brevin Knight heard all the doubts people had about his ability to be effective in the NBA. ?People were saying that I was done in this league and that I didn?t deserve to be here anymore,? recalls Knight. ?They said that what I did to make teams better didn?t fit with what teams needed today.? The eight-year NBA veteran paid no attention to the critics. ?I knew that I did deserve to be here,? he said. ?All I needed to do was to find the right situation at the right time. Knight certainly did find the right situation at the right time, and he made the most of it. He finished the season second in the league with 9.0 assists per game, first in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.02) and fifth with 1.98 steals per game. On March 12 against the Lakers, he posted 17 assists without a turnover, the most assists by a player during the season without a turnover. Knight also recorded a team high and tied a career high with eight steals at Orlando on March 24. "Brevin was our floor general. He took full advantage of the opportunity," said Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager Bernie Bickertstaff. "He was really the key to any kind of success we had. He was our most valuable player. I think his teammates would feel the same way."</div> Full Story I think Brevin did very well in his first season with the Bobcats, he has proven that he still has the skills to be an above-average PG in the NBA.
Brevin Knight had a great season with the Bobcats. Many doubted he could play at this level at the start of the season. He averaged 9 assists per game in just under 30 minutes, and he should get a lot of interest in the offseason.
Knight had a great year and showed his great passing abilities and that he could score when needed. Hopefully Brevin can come back and play great next year along with Okafor and whoever the Bobcats select with their lottery pick and have a successful season.
The question is: would Knight even be around next year? He is a pure PG who can shoot the ball as well when asked upon. This type of player is becoming non-existent in the league, especially someone like Knight who probably won't cost too much. The Bobcats might love to keep him and offer him a contract, but I would think that if they draft Chris Paul, Knight would be let go. That is, though, assuming that the Cats won't get the first overall and draft Bogut.
