Does anyone think that Dwayne Wade should increase his range to the three point line, he hardly takes threes but still manages to put 30 + points any night. So should wade start firing from the three point arc and would this improve his game, or should he keep to driving and shooting the mid range jump shot???
It'll come eventually, but why focus on it specifically when no one can actually stop you getting to the rim and finishing? He'll learn as he gets older, just like MJ.
He will increase his range with time, right now he plays within himself and makes smart decisions. He gets into the lane at will and is unstoppable on the break. He is a very good passer, rebounder and a pretty good defender as the all defensive team would show. Like Lebron his jumpshot will improve over the next few years and he will take more three-point shots and make alot more. But even when he has the three-point shot, I don't see him ever going away from what he does best, attacking the rim, finishing and getting to the line.
It's good for anyone to increase his range. If Wade adds a reliable and respectable three point shot to his reportoire, it would force defenders to guard him outside and not back off and dare him to shoot. Getting more range would definitely help Wade be even better on the drive, but right now, I don't think that working on his shot should be Wade's first priority. If I were him, I would work on playing a more pure point guard and conditioning. The shot will come with time, it's better to not force things too much.
Like mentioned, it will come with time. But as long as he has the Jones's on his side he shouldn't be overly concerned with his shot.
I'd like to see Wade work more on a post-up game. If he can develop two or three go-to moves in the paint he could take advantage of his strength on smaller guards. Right now he's intent on dunking over people and making athletic layups, but adding another weapon to his offensive game never hurts. I just hope he doesn't stop attacking the rim if he improves his 3-point range. It seems to be an epidemic for these athletic shooting guards to force the 3 ball once they increase their range. Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, all these players stopped attacking the rim as hard when they developed a 3point shot. I'd hate to see Wade go the same route.
Wade has good range just up to the 3pt line But the part about Wade that seperates him from most Guards is his shot selection. He's thinking "why settle for a FG when I can get to the FT line" or "why settle for a mid-range jumpshot when I can get a dunk or layup" or "why settle for a 3pt shot when I can move near to the FT line and get a better shot" I'd like to see him develope a reliable 3pt shot but the main reason he hasn't is because he knows there's a lot of better shots available than the just settling for a long range 2 or a 3pt shot.
I have two opinions on this topic. I hope that he doesn't start to rely on his three point shot to much because he wouldn't be as much of a threat to teams when he is driving to the hoop. On the other hand, if he becomes a good perimeter shooter and doesn't constantly settle for a three, his game could be very hard to defend. As long as he keeps driving along with shooting threes then I'm fine with him improving his range.
Wade is overated in my opinion. Don't tell me that Wade got that much better from last year. He played with Shaq. I know I am actually complimenting Shaq, but it's true he helpes Wade alot. the difference from this year and previous years with Kobe, he dominated the ball alot more. Hes not trying to score as much this year just bringing his presence out on the floor. He is manipulating his teamates in a way. The teamtes think "We got shaq were the best" that makes them play better than they actually are so shaq is a plus at this stage of his career except for his contract that takes up a bunch of space. Hey miami fans dont be surprised if shaq isn't here next year.

What happened to how during the season, he also shot over 50%, and averaged close to 30 PPG while Shaq was out, I'm a little confused here... ...and no, Wade didn't get "that much better" from last year because he was already very good last season. If you had watched him play he was spectacular, and without injuries, he would've likely been a 19-5-5 player, and considering him improving his game and also getting more minutes this year, yes, it was not much of a surprise. I don't see how inceasing his range would hurt, I think it would definately be a good thing, but like some have likely said, he just has to refrain from overusing the outside shot. A great thing about him is that he's always looking get to the basket. I also agree with Shape that maybe developing a post up game would also help a lot.

Just because Wade is getting close to surpassing Kobe in just one or two seasons, and Shaq had a successful season with Miami is no reason to hate.

Reminds him of the ol' Shaq days.
I knew I was going to get dogged out for saying that. Many NBA analysts same the same things that I do. It doesn't matter though, that's my opinion. Wade is a good player but not that good.

I think as many others said that his 3 point shot will come to him in a few years maybe even as soon as next season. He would become unguardable if he had a reliaba 3 point shot. If they actually try to cover him closely hed just blow ryt by them just as he does now, and then when hes in the perimiter if they bak off a bit he can just shoot it over them. So hes not that good, he just outscored shaq which isnt that easy to do even tho shaq hasnt had such a great statistical season. Unanimous Rookie first team selection. So your not that goodwhen your one of the few guards who has over 100 steals and 80 blocks. Whatever you say.
