<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Of all the things that could help return the Milwaukee Bucks to a competitive level, among the most critical happens a week from tonight under the glare of a New Jersey TV studio. It is there that the NBA will conduct its draft lottery, and it is there that the Bucks will have a 6.3% chance to get the full Ed McMahon treatment.

"If anybody's got any good magic stuff, I've got to sit up there," Bucks general manager Larry Harris said. "If anybody's been to Potawatomi and has won a lot of money, give me a little bit of insight. That's the most important thing than anything else right now, trying to get the No. 1 pick."

It's been 11 years since the Bucks last won the lottery; in 1994, the debate involved Glenn Robinson and Grant Hill. This time, there likely would be little discussion. Seven-foot center Andrew Bogut of Utah seems to be the choice as the No. 1 selection, although the Bucks cannot begin planning this massive reconstruction project on the 93.7% possibility that the big Aussie will wear another cap on the evening of the June 28 draft.</div>

"You already had Jamal Crawford and Kirk Hinrich," Harris said. "Where does he fit? Well, he fits somewhere. They took the best player. I think that always works. You always take the best player because an asset can bring something else."

The only problem is defining who the best player will be at the #6 spot. It sounds like they are looking for a player to contribute now. This likely rules out Andri, Gerald Green, or Chris Taft.

Franz Vazquez, Ray Felton, and Martell Webster should be the best three players available left to select from who are NBA ready.

Shoot if I was the Bucks, they ain't getting better overnight until at least TJ Ford returns. If I'm looking for a draw and good potential, I gotta run with Gerald Green if he's left. At least I get a tall 2 guard with huge star potential and then minimize the damage of possibly ending up losing Michael Redd to free agency. If Green is gone, I'd look at Raymond Felton if he's still there. If he's gone I'd look at Chris Taft, Tiago Splitter, Deron Williams or possibly even Martell Webster. Maybe I'd use some free agency money to find a player like Raja Bell or some other underrated shooting guard that can do a little bit of everything.

    I like Gerald Green, though.

    pg: Tj Ford/Mo Williams
    sg: Gerald Green
    sf: Desmond Mason
    pf: Zaur Pachulia
    c: Dan Gadzuric

dude, there's no way that deron williams would fall to us [IMG] i only wish [IMG]

but i think a guy like webster would be good, because his potential is outstanding, and yeah, we're prolly not gonna be better overnight. i'd love to see raja bell in a bucks uniform. he's exactly the type of wing defender that we desperately need to team up with mason.

Deron could fall, there's really no way to test his major strengths, which is to take charge of the team game and his court vision and passing. You can't really test that in workouts. Any of the high school guards like Green or Webster would probably do well on the Buckets if Deron Williams is picked over. If the Bucks stick with Zaur Pachulia, Daniel Santiago, the might skip a big man project.
