Alright, for my next article I'm doing a chronicle on the sports fan and how our beloved teams mean so much to us...for example, how they affect our daily lives and how our life as a whole has been affected by our sports team...i need diehard fans...so for those diehard fans, I would appreciate it if you would give some quotes or stories as to how your beloved basketball team affects you...tell your stories as a fan and such...what I plan to do is chronicle it and make an article that represents the heart of the diehard sports fan, and what sports means to them...

you may either post your comments here or PM them to me if you wish for them to not be public...this article may take some time to finish so I would appreciate the comments a.s.a.p...thanks...

Wow, I got a very cool story to tell all of you guys about my Lakers expirence. I will start from the beginning.

Back in 2002, my parents had told me that I had a basketball camp to go to. They told me it was in Los Angeles, California. When we get there, I have no idea where we are going. But all of a sudden, my parents ask me to close my eyes. So I did and about 5 minutes later, they take me out of the car and guide me walking to somewhere but I don't know where we are going still. They tell me I can open my eyes and I see Staples Center. I saw Staples Center, I was like wow Staples Center. What a great site. Then they drop something on the ground. My Dad says can you pick up that my back is sore. So when I pick it up it's a ticket to see the Lakers game. I was so freakin excited. I never saw a Laker game before but I have been a fan since I was a little kid. We had very good seats. We were 5 seats behind the basket. Wow I was so excited. My first Laker game. Let me point out that we were 5 hours early to the game. So I am jsut chilling and I go to the other side of the arena to see where the cars come into the arena. I see guys like D Fish, Rick Fox, and Robert Horry coming into the game. I couldn't see any other players in their cars because the windows were tinted too much. Another amazing thing happened. My parents came around and asked me to get me their phone in the car because they forgot it. So I go into the glove compartment and I see a signed Kobe Bryant jersey. I was so thankful. I got a Lakers singed jersey Kobe Bryant. It was amazing. So I put it on obviously for the game. While we are jsut chilling outsdie then we are the first fans to come into the arena. I just walk around the arena just checking everything out. I was so fortunate to have saved money already because I went to buy some merchandise in the Laker store. I also see the players warming up on the floor about maybe an hour later. While I look around the arena in the seats, I maybe only see about less than 100 people in the arena. When I saw kobe, I wanted to yell out something to him but I was too nervous. So I just watch them do their thing. I call all my friends and gf to tell them about this.

All of this excitement was all pre-game action. But I didn't know who we were playing. I look at the ticket again, and I see the Washington Wizards. I am wondering and I get excited again because it's Michael Jordan. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WANT KOBE BRYANT TO BE BETTER THAN MICHAEL JORDAN, YOU STILL HAVE TO APPRECIATE AND LOVE MICHAEL JORDAN'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE GAME OF BASKETBALL. So I get to see Shaq, Kobe, Michael, and Jack. Before the game starts, I see Jack walking in. They put him on the screen in the celing. I have watched so many Laker games before but this was the first one I was going to see live. When they are announcing the players, I got the goosebumps listening to the warmups. Everyone applauded loudly for Michael when they announced him. Then seeing Shaq and Kobe getting called to the floor. But let me point out this was Kobe's game.

So Michael starts off pretty well. He makes a couple fade aways. Yeah Yeah the old geezer doesn't want to pass the torch right now. But ohhhhhh no Kobe makes his first shot, money. Let's not get started. Then all of a sudden, Kobe goes off. It's crazy. He proably has his best game of his whole career tonight. He had 50-something points in 3 quarters. He was making all of his shots. It was unbilevable. It was magic. I couldn't stop yelling and banging the rubber penis's they gave us. LOL the things you use to make sound while the other team is shooting the free-throws. I remember this little kid I was sitting by, he started banging it when Kobe was shooting free-throws. A bunch of people were looking at him. But anyway I was taking pictures the whole game. I have this one pic I will tell you guys about at the end of the story. But at half-time I took pictures of the sexy laker girls. My mother kind of got my dad when he was checking them out. But shoot my girlfriend wasn't there, so I was all over them. Kobe started to cool down a little though after half. But he still scored alot of points just wasn't making his shots all the time; only 75% of time time.LOL. In the 4th quarter, Phil practially took Kobe out for the rest of the game. Everyone started chanting Kobe, Kobe, Kobe!!! They showed all of his teamates telling Phil to put Kobe back in. But he didn't. Oh Well that was just amazing overall. I stayed a littel after the game just to analyze all the fun I had over the game. Going back to the hotel, I looked at the pictures I took on my dad's digital camera. One picture I looked at which very made me happy. Kobe and Michael are both bending down and it looks like they are looking at us. But they were waiting for the play to start and they were looking at the ref's call. But anyway, Kobe has this very serious look in his face. He looks so pissed off in this picture. Michael has a small grin on his face. To me, this picture symbolizes Michael passing down the torch to Kobe. Kobe is the new flesh and Michael now understands that and he is passing it down to Mr. Bryant. I knew from that day, Kobe has an opportunity to put his name down as one of the greatest players of all time. There are two types of unrealistic fans when asked about whether who's better Kobe or Michael? The Laker bias fans most of the time say Kobe. People that don't like the Lakers or Kobe most of the time say Ohh Michael hands down no doubt. But...Phil, Jim Clemons, and Jack Haley all have been asked about that. They all say that it's a close one. They coached michael and kobe. both been around with both of them. But let's be realistic. They are very great players. You can argue that they are the best perimeter players of all time at the age of 26. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Too bad we will never get to see them duel each other both in their primes. Wouldn't that have been a good match. Yes Lebron is awesome for his age but he's not Kobe. This is Kobe's time and he will prove it to the rest of the world. The lakers will improve. Kobe will one day be known as one of the best players of all time. Top 5 I think is my projection for Kobe which is excellent. Let's just see what happens.

Anyways I have other stories about the lakers. My longtime gfirlfriend has broken up with me because she is jelous that I pay too much attention tot he Lakers. I got fired because of the Lakers. I stayed home to watch a playoff game and I made up a bogas excuse. I forget what the excuse was already but my boss found out I was lieing. I collect all kinds of laker posters, bobbleheads, mcfarlins, and posters, etc. I will support our Lakers down to the bone no matter what. i am a laker 4 life.

I am glad to be a part of this site because I know there are many other fans in here jsut as passionate as me so we can discuss our feelings on the Lakers and basketball. We all love basketball and it's a wonderful game. Thanks guys.

Hey great stuff Pimpdaddy33, I was also at that Laker game, and I remember watching Kobe score over 50 points in the game and thought it was a fitting ending to see Jordan play his last game in Los Angeles with Kobe stealing the show from the player he idolizes.

Sorry to hear you lost your g/f and job because of your passion for the Lakers. You must be first in line when they hold their training camp on the Big Island.

I'm really looking forward to watching the team next year and to see Kobe Bryant become the leader we all expect him to be. I think he learned a hard lesson this year and will take the steps to be a better team player.

Yeah sorry about that. I meant that I do go to their training camps too. But it's on Oahu not the big island.

Let's put it this way, if the Tarheels win i have a good day, if they lose the whole time until their next game is hell. I live and die with the Tarheels. If they are playing bad i flip out and if they are playing good i flip out. When they won the natiional championchip i couldnt sleep and i went nuts. My whole year is great because of the Tarheels. I've broken things when they play bad too. Words cant even describe how much i like the Heels. I can't even describe why i like them so much. Maybe i was born a Tarheel. Everytime i train for basketball, my goal is in mind. I don't really care if i play in the nba i just want to play for UNC. Call it an obsession, i call it a passion.
