I hate when players flop. It drives me crazy because I just want to watch the game without interuptions. A lot of these guys are really extreme and go down when someone blows on them. It's really annoying but I think it will be a part of the game forever now since a lot of guys are mastering this technique.

I totally agree with this. I think that flopping will stay in the league and will stand as the dirtiest move in the game.

I guess I?m alone on this one here. I personally don?t mind seeing players flop. I think it?s a very strategic method in playing defense. Sure it?s annoying and maybe ?cheap? and I do dislike it when it happens to my team, but I honestly don?t see the problems.

On a level as high as the NBA, winning is the most important thing. Flopping isn?t cheating, nor do I consider it dirty. Players such as Reggie Miller are string beans and instead of getting completely abused by more physical players, they should do something else to counter that.

It also adds to the mental aspect of the game and makes the opponent think twice which can distract him. Basketball is 10% physical and 90% mental. I think ?flopping? is just one of the things that add to that 90%.

i agree with u 100%. flopping is just a cheap way of playing and it gets great players (ala shaq) in foul trouble for b.s. defense. 1 question though. If youre so against the flop, y do u have a picture of d wade. he flops a ton n wen mo pete wanted to go d wade just punked out. CB4 IS THE TRUTH

Hopefully the biggest flopper ever won't come back next year, Reggie. Some of the flops this guy pulls off are ridiculous, also when he shoots he ALWAYS flails his legs around hoping to draw contact. Also all the calls he got this year because he was retiring made me sick...

Edit:Techs for flops is a great idea [IMG]

Flopping is horrible, it ruins the game. It makes it impossible for the refs to let the NBA be even a remotely physical league.
I never though Reggie did it as consistenly as some others did, and Reggie gets plenty of offensive calls to make up for it. But Manu Ginobli is ridiculous. People try to say he is so great and plays the game so well, ut he just either player pinball with himself in the paint or flops whenever someone is near him. He loves to get up in the face of whoever he is guarding, and when they shift their arms to pass he flops like they elbowed hm in the face. Its just stupid, he needs to stop being a little baby and manipulating the system. Go back to Argentina with that crap. And you too Dirk, quit holding your face for ten minutes when someone trips over your foot. You look like a moron.

flopping is part of the game. For every flop that Ginobli does, he has the bruises to make up for it. Perimeter players like him, wade, and Iverson need to dramatize every hit they take because the refs are simply not going to see every foul that occurs when they are in the lane. If these players did not learn to "flop" the opposing team will pound them physically and encourage dirty defence.

It's part of the game, and has been for a long time. Live with it.

flopping is a sad excuse for playing defense, the nba should get tougher rules against using it.

I understand when Divac used to do it though, against Shaq there isn't much other defensive weapons you can use.

I lost some respect for Dirk this year though, he really was complaining to much and was flopping wayyy too much. His face would get brushed and he would fall over. This is coming from a Dirk fan too.

Flopping is more commonplace now than at any point that I can remember. I can't stand it when guys do it. I still remember Lindsay Hunter flopping when Reggie hit that game winning shot last round. You could see the delayed reaction on the replays. He gets hit and then he decides to react a little later.

The only way the NBA will get rid of it is if there's a tougher consequence than there is now. Make it a technical foul and players will think twice about flopping the next time. Just look at the NHL - players pretending that they were being tripped was becoming more and more common until they implemented the diving penalty. It's worked pretty well as there are a lot less cases of diving as there were before.

On a related note, I also hate it when players yell as if they were shot in order to get a foul call from the refs. Vince Carter used to do it in Toronto and now does is it in New Jersey. Every time he goes to the basket, if another player even touches him he screams and hopes the refs call it.

Manu is the worst of them all, he gets hit by invinsible walls and goes down everytime he breaks to the rim, or he gets a foul called. Im tired of the refs lettin these floppers get by like this..It makes the game less fun.

i heard the commentators talking about this during one game. They said that in college they are tought that it is good Defence sliding in and under people as they are going up for shot dunk whatever. Also i can be dangerous to the offensive player especially if he is jumping up and then someone comes underneath him it is going to greatly effect his landing and can cause some serious damage.

Don't blame the players who do it. This is one the biggest flaws to the NBA game. Refs need to do a better job of calling it, and not calling it by recognizing when the contact has little impact. Not that it's easy or anything.
