AM Radio: "My sources tell me Jackson signing is a done deal" LGer's are reporting hearing this as heard on AM 570 this morning: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Scherm:</div><div class="quote_post">David Vassay (used to work on ESPN Radio 710) but I thought I heard the report on XTRA 570) said this morning that his Laker sources said Phil Jackson had dinner in Vegas last week with Jerry, Jimmy and Jeanie Buss and his signing is a done deal, but the Lakers are waiting until June to announce it. He also said his Laker sources told him that Phil asked for and received equal authority to Mitch regarding personnel decisions, which had been a sticking point for him. </div> http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=366
nah Kobe will be cool with Phil as long as he is the guy. Kobe feels that he works the hardest which is true and kobe was the best gaurd in the game which is true so he wanted to be the man but as long as Phil was the coach and shaq in shape or not was going to be the main man let me point out to all of you ppl that shaq's contract could expire next season. Lakers are coming they are going to win championships BE READY THE LAKERS ARE COMING THE TRUTH WILL BE TOLD

The Lakers' mess is not something just the arrival of a success coach could fill. There would also have to be personnel moves to be made, such as acquiring a quality and consistent big man, and getting a consistent secondary scorer to take the load off Kobe's shoulders at times. Odom didn't do too shabby last season, but if he continues to look lost when playing with Kobe, he'll have to go. A better point guard than Atkins would be needed as well if the Lakers really want to "win championships". Right now, LA is a playoff team with Phil Jackson, but definitely not title contenders.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Silky Smooth:</div><div class="quote_post">What a turn of events. Fire your coach, then sign him back one season later.</div> Just to clear up some of the comments... 1. PJax was not fired, his contract expired and was not renewed, so PJax quit. He also wanted to have time off to recover from his health problems. 2. Kobe has a no-trade clause in his contract so unless he waives it, he's going to be a Laker for a long time. You're right Trip, the Lakers will not be over night contenders with PJax back. There is still a lot of work the team needs to do. It is a step in the right direction though, and with Phil aboard hopefully he can grab control of this team and sell them on his system. I will just be happy to see more effort from the Lakers next season.
Yeah but their going in the right direction. All of what you guys said is true. My clairvoyant lol mind is saying that the Lakers will become a dynasty and KObe will take throne from MJ and Lebron. He is the man and the Lakers are the team to beat.
As far as I'm concerned, its not official until its announced. But time for speculation: what can we expect now? We all know that PJ doesn't play rookies. Does this mean trade our draft pick for a proven player? What about Luke Walton and Devean George? They're chances of staying in LA are increased a bit since they have valuable triangle experience that PJ covets so much.
YES! I don't care that he is coming back to coach, I care more that he has equal authority as Kupcake. Finally, maybe this draft will turn into a good one!
