<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">^Lebron and KG had better stats though.I can agree with Kobe being on one of those teams as long as it isnt first team.</div> Your right man. Kobe doesn't deserve anything higher than 2nd team. AI was better and nash was mvp. lebron had really awesome numbers. this year for kobe was kind of a junk year. he will be back next year and regain his throne as the best player in the game. it's coming. be ready.
I pretty much predicted the first team and second team. As for the third, I would've put Vince in there. Congrats to Gilbert Arenas though, he had a great season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Vince had more of an impact on the Nets' turnaround than Kidd personally, but given his attitude and numbers in Toronto, I'm glad he didn't make any of the teams, despite his gaudy overall stats.</div> Well, most people think that they didn't really start to turn it around completely until Vince got to New Jersey, but they were only 4-12 without Kidd, 38-28 with Kidd (including his first months back), and 32-25 with Carter. So if anything, those numbers say that Kidd made the bigger impact. Also, you have to take into consideration that Kidd's first month or so back was more or less a rehabilitation month. Carter came right in and scored 25 points along with grabbing 6 rebounds in his New Jersey Nets debut. Kidd averaged about eight points per game in his first month (12 games) back, because he was still struggling with his knee. I also think that each one benefited from eachother. Just ask Vince, and he'll tell you that the reason he improved so much from the season he was having in Toronto was because he is now playing with the best point guard in the league. Kidd can't win with just Aaron Williams and Brian Scalabrine, and neither can Vince Carter. On another note, why didn't Steve Francis, Chris Webber, Pau Gasol, Jason Richardson, and Zach Randolph get any votes? Those are players who had very solid seasons, despite being surrounded by controversy or injury. Still, if controversy and injury didn't stop them from giving Jermaine O'Neal votes, then why did it stop them from giving these guys votes? Tayshaun Prince got more votes than these guys. Francis finished with 21.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 7.0 apg, Webber finished with 19.5 ppg, 9.1 rpg, and 4.8 apg, Gasol finished with 17.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg, and 2.4 apg in 32 mpg, Richardson finished with 21.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, and 3.9 apg, and Randolph finished with 18.9 ppg and 9.6 rpg in more games than Jermaine O'Neal.
I haven't read through the thread, so I'm just giving my views. First of all, it seems so weird to me that Garnett isn't on the First Team. I don't think he deserves to be, but it seems weird after all these years. I'm glad he made Second Team. I think the first team looks pretty good, but I would switch Duncan and James. Duncan had injuries and only had an all right year in my mind. He averaged 20 and 10, but that's normal for him. James had his amazing year, and avoided the Soph Slump. But it's pretty cool to see Wade, James and Stoudemire on the Second Team. I think that shows us the future of the League is bright.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On another note, why didn't Steve Francis, Chris Webber, Pau Gasol, Jason Richardson, and Zach Randolph get any votes?</div> You're right, C-Webb should have received some votes. But the fact that he severely struggled when he first came to Philly overshadowed the type of season he was having with the Kings. Before he came to Philly the guy was averaging a double-double and posting triple doubles every now and then and from my knowledge he finished behind Jason Kidd for this season most triple doubles. At the rate C-Webb was going before the Philly-Sac trade he was poised to make the All NBA 3rd Team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Well coaches vote for the All-NBA Teams, but the Media votes for MVP, DPOY, ROY, COY, 6th man.</div> Yeah, I know. I just think it's a shame some of the things that go on. It's seems as if the media is playing around instead of taking the awards seriously. Hey it's all good for P.J. though. I bet it'll soon be in his Career Highlights. I can see it now...An MVP candidate receiving a vote despite his team going 18-64.
Actually it was my bad, the media also votes for the All-NBA Teams, just not the defensive and rookie teams. They really get to do way too much. I hope the Raptors go after PJ Brown, if we can get a player of that caliber on the Raptors, we could go places. Maybe a possible finals appearance next season
I pretty much agree with the teams, although I believe Duncan missed far too many games to be put on the first team over LeBron. Although Duncan is the best player in the league (IMO), missing that many games and making the first team over someone like LeBron who probably had the best invidual year (you can make an arguement for AI) is something I disagree with it. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post"> I hope the Raptors go after PJ Brown, if we can get a player of that caliber on the Raptors, we could go places. Maybe a possible finals appearance next season </div> I was thinking the same...But then I realized we already had a player of that caliber...Pape. He would probably be an MVP canidate in 05-06, so there's no point in trading for PJ.
I thought VC deserved at least a third team selection, after the impact hes had on New Jersey, he averaged something like 27 a night uring that stretch during the end of the season when they were fighting for that last playoff spot.
The teams are pretty solid I'd say, the first team looks perfect to me, Dirk definatly desesrves to be on that team, who I still think deserves a lot more credit than he gets, he is definatly one of the elite guards. The second seems good, although I think T-Mac should be on it. The third seems perfect to me. So overall, I thought they did a good job, they are pretty much what I would've said.
