bak to the topic i think that Ridnour could become a good point guard. I dont agree however that he will be the next steve nash because he doesnt have amare and marion on his team. He will be a good starter but i dont think he will be the next superstar pg.

I don't see him as the next Steve Nash but I think he could be the next Tony Parker. He is unselfish and a smart player and can score when needed. I think he will be a starter for many years but will never achieve All Star status.

Parker isn't true PG in my eyes - he is more like a combo guard, capable of playing both positions. Ridnour's primary weapons are dribbling and passing, not his jumper.

Yeah but Parker is unselfish and makes good passes as well. Luke Ridnour is hard to compare. He is just, Luke Ridnour I guess.

    Luke is Luke.

People compare him to Nash because both are small and white. Nash took a while to settle into the league too; how many would have picked him to develop into a league MVP when he was sitting on the bench for the Suns and coming off the bench in Dallas?

The playoffs will do wonders for Luke though. It took him a while to get comfortable, but he was respectable, and got the experience which is tremendously valuable. Both Parker and Bibby had their moments, but Luke held his own and will only be better for it.

It is rare that a point guard comes into the league and hits his straps straight away, particularly one who was picked just outside of the lottery and wasn't physically big or strong. The fact that he started every single one of Seattle's 93 games this season, of which we won 58, yet we're still talking about him being in the infancy stages of his career with so much development left in him, really speaks volumes.

There are many flaws in his game, but they are only going to be rectified with experience, just like any other professional player in this league.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">Jerome James did play great in that game but he is not as valuable as Ridnour. James is a bust and isn't even as valuable as Reggie Evans. </div>

Actually...though James is mostly a bust...I don't believe that Reggie Evans is more valuable anymore (though he is my favorite Sonic). With Collison and Fortson on the roster Reggie loses some of his value. He is relatively two/one dimensional at either end of the floor. He plays solid but not GREAT defense, his real value comes from hustle oriented rebounding. Fortson and Collison are both scoring options in the post and at the line which reduces Reggie's importance.

A 7' big man who can set solid screens, rebound, block shots and offer post scoring but doesn't demand 15-20 touches a game is much more valuable to the Sonics. They need someone to hold the fort in the middle while they groom Robert Swift. The troller must have some decent meds if he is really thinking JJ is more valuable than Luke, but I would have to put him before Reggie as an off season priority. He is worth what they are paying him now if he repeats this year's performance, even without a playoff performance repeat. Unfortunately, in this league these days, a 7' guy who isn't drooling and wetting himself daily will command what James is making today, which means he will demand more. What a shame.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting QbanBalla15:</div><div class="quote_post">LMFAO!!! First the raps probably wont even be 32-50 next year, Bosh is good but you cant be serous calling him MVP material. He wasnt even the best rookie in his class. D Wade and Lebron are already way ahead of him so please go back to raptors forum and stay there.</div>

He's not MVP Material (might be in the future), but he's an All-Star in the making. Wade and LeBron are on different levels, yes, but he's not far behind. 17 and 9 for a 21 year old big man who played his best against the best PF's in the league is very impressing. Is Jermaine O'Neal the best player in his rookie class? Is Nash? Is Ray Allen? Is Vince Carter?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CB4 RAPTOR MVP:</div><div class="quote_post">yall are crazy talkin about ridnour like he could be the next steve nash. First of all, ridnour cant shoot well at all, and secondly his passing skills arent even close to nashs. I think that ridnour is a best going to be a solid backup, as he doesnt have close to enought scoring or driving ability to be a star. He had nothing to do with seattles great season, it was all because of ray allen and rashard lewis. seattle would be smart to let him go and re sign players they actually need like allen, jerome james and antonio daniels.</div>

U know.. after reading that, i firmly believe "IGNORANT FANS DESERVE IGNORANT PLAYERS". no wonder T.O. aint goin nowhere. I personally had the pleasure of playin against Luke when both of us were in H.S. and trust me.... the guy can def pass the ball! I once heard a ref in a timeout say...." The guy looks as if's playin wit a Yo-Yo when he's comin downcourt"
