<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former San Antonio Spurs coach John Lucas said Friday that he has interviewed with the Timberwolves for their head coaching vacancy. Lucas said he had a phone interview Wednesday with Kevin McHale, the team's vice president of basketball operations, and added that he thought it went well. Lucas said the job interests him because he believes he could re-energize the Wolves. "I've been trying to get back in a situation like I had in San Antonio," he said during a phone interview. "Kevin Garnett and David Robinson remind me of one another. With Sam Cassell and the other players, it's a great fit." Lucas said he would focus on teaching strong defense to go with an up-tempo offense. He has close ties with Wolves free agent Eddie Griffin and Cassell, who has worked out with Lucas during the offseason in the past. Lucas runs an alcohol treatment aftercare program in Houston. He helped Griffin get sober last year and remains a big influence in his life.</div> Source
I think that John Lucus would probably be the one coach that Sprewell and Cassell would respect to the fulliest. And we all know that Eddie Griffen owes a big part of his return to the NBA to John Lucus. I like the fit. But Iam not if the Wolves are going to look at him as a serious option, I remember he really struggled with that Cavs team a couple of years back. But I would like to see Lucus get another opportunity with a veteran ball club like the Wolves.
Isn't he currently in rehibiliation for excess alcohal? Oh well. I agree, he is a very respected coach. I think it's good that he's interested, it gives an option if who we really want declines.

Now he runs a treatment center for people with substance abuse problems I believe.
I like John Lucas for what he has done to people that has drinking problems and I like his passion for the game, but I am glad he did not get the job. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing his son come into camp with the Timberwolves. I am suprised no team drafted him. I am sure teams will sign him for a tryout. I think he could be a good fit for the Timberwolves.
