I don't think a draft day could ever be as bad as the one where we fired KP, but still let him make the picks, and he stuck us with Babbitt, Elliott...

Unless it's moving CJ, salary matching becomes pretty difficult.
The rule you posted stated couldn't take a pay cut. Adding an extra year with no new salary would constitute a pay cut.
