Has anybody heard about this?Invalid Video Linkhttp://movies.ign.com/articles/801/801593p1.htmlYou probably saw the trailer in front of Transformers... A camcorder-filmed party scene gives way to what looks like a terrifying fireball attack on New York City. "It's alive! It's huge," someone in the crowd screams. What the heck is it!? We don't know... but it's produced by Lost creator J.J. Abrams and it hits theaters on 1-18-08. The trailer for the mysterious movie, which has used the codename "Cloverfield" during pre-production, doesn't have a title. But what it does have is plenty of buzz! As soon as the trailer hit, bootleg versions were showing up on video sites like YouTube, and fans were going crazy posting their thoughts on what the movie might be. For their part, Paramount Pictures isn't shedding any light on the subject. In fact, they haven't technically acknowledged that it exists at all, except to request that certain sites remove the bootleg version of the trailer -- or so we hear. This, of course, is fueling speculation even more. There's now a nondescript teaser site that's been subtly launched at www.1-18-08.com. As of now, the site only features a still image of two young women looking up at something that appears to be scaring the crap out of them. The image bears the timestamp "01/18/2008 12:36A."Early indications are that the film is some sort of giant monster sci-fi movie presented in a "reality" style -- like The Blair Witch Project. And rumor has it that "The Parasite," supposedly what the crew is calling the monster in the film, is another working title for the production. All of this is just conjecture at this point, but we do have something concrete...IGN Movies has learned that the "Untitled J.J. Abrams Project" may also be using the working title "Slusho," which hardcore fans of Abrams' Alias may remember as the Slurpee-type beverage that Vaughn offers to Sydney in the second episode of the series. We received an email this morning with the details of a public notice of filming posted last week in downtown Los Angeles that illuminates a few details about the production. The notice states that a Paramount Pictures movie using the name "Slusho" was filming last week in several downtown locations during the late afternoon to early morning hours. Here's a description of the scene:"Exterior dialogue. Driving scenes. Occasional traffic & pedestrian control. Camera & equipment on sidewalk, street and property. 200 extras. Military vehicles. Destruction aftermath. Weapons brandished. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Exterior dialogue on fire escape on 8th floor."Sounds like "Cloverfield" to us! So, what else is known about the top secret movie? Frequent Abrams collaborator Drew Goddard, a writer on Lost, Alias, Buffy, and Angel, penned the script.Keep tracking with IGN Movies as the mystery of "Cloverfield" unravels.www.1-18-08.comNow there's more creepy pictures on the website. Nobody really knows what it's about, what the purpose of it is or why it's there but it really looks intriuging. It comes out on that day, January 18, 2008. I don't know what the significance of that date is but doesn't everybody find this weird? There's a bunch of conspiracy theories and ideas floating around the web about this.
Like you said, the preview was very mysterious and really didn't giveaway a lot but enough to make you wonder what it was. It seemed like it was going to be an awesome movie. I want to know what it is.
I thought with the mentions of him going to Japan and the roaring sounds, it was some kind of Godzilla movie.
I have hope it's about the Apocalypse. Would be kind of lame if it's just another monster flick. Stepping stone for viral marketing. I bet this movie brings in money without showing much.

I didn't think of Godzilla but after what you said it does make sense.
I'm really curious about this movie. I've been reading up on a lot of theories and a lot of them are thinking it's Godzilla. I'm with Rok though, I hope it has to do with the apocalypse.

As many of you have brought up, I think that the movie is a Godzilla remake. Seems like the kind of project J.J. Abrams would take up and the preview shows signs of it being a monster movie.
they released a site with puzzles about the movie, you solve one then some guy talks about whats happening. www.ethanhaaswasright.com
Wow...this is great marketing...Its creeping me out, I went to a couple sites and people are saying its the end of the world from a Bibical standpoint, some say its like a Godzilla movie...some say it might be aliens(just like war of the worlds).I cant wait...
After looking at far too many websites, it seems that it is a movie, yes, about the apocalypse. Romans 1:18, blah blah blahIt doesn't seem like a Godzilla movie, but does seem to include something dumb about monsters. I'LL SHOW YOU VIRAL MARKETING, BUTTFACE.As someone on one of these sites said: "hmmm a japanese slushy that alludes to cthulhu, an suv that got smoked by a giant head, and a passage from the bible?..oh my ITS ALL STARTING TO MAKE SENSE?..NAAT"

godzilla 2 is coming out.. but doubt this is it ... im so going to see this movie .I think it should be a godzilla movie.. only adds up
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>godzilla 2 is coming out.. but doubt this is it ... im so going to see this movie</div>There's no Godzilla 2 scheduled. Don't no where you heard that.

Have you actually been to any of the sites related to the movie? One site was this site that said something about the Hanson Foundation. It had a business letter about how this guy had found something that could create immortality or something. When you scroll over the word "humanity," the screen flashed and this guy talked about how he needed to release this virus into humanity. On some sites, there was a thing about "The Parasite," showing two red eyes above New York City. There are also sites that mention a guy named Ethan Haas. I don't know if he is supposed to be a character in the movie or what, but he is related in some way. My thought is that he is the anti-Christ, as you can spell out "hes a satan" with the letters in his name (poor anagram, I know, but it is one). To add to the anti-Christ thing, there is an anti-Christ related site that is related to the movie as well. I found a site that said something about dawn, cycles, creating men and women, and something about who can mold the clay, or something. So anyway, how this all ties into the movie is pretty weird and vague, but as best I can tell, some dude predicts the end of the future, there is an opposing cult that disagrees, and somehow this monster gets unleashed on the world, which starts the end of the universe. There we go, I ruined the movie for you.edit: They're using a lot of Maya mythology and Christian passages here, just a sidenote.
