** It's too bad the Terry Glenn deal did not work out, and who knows, maybe he comes back although I think that's unlikely. The trade for Glenn from Green Bay for a sixth rounder was one of the best steals the Cowboys had. Here's what always stuck out to me about Glenn - it never looked like his feet touched the ground. He was (is?) so quick it always looked like he just hovered over the field. Terence Newman said he's the toughest guy he's had to defend.

** Brad Johnson had some zip on some down the field passes. He had back-to-back fastballs in seven-on-seven drills that made me notice. I'm just saying.

** Julius Crosslin, the rookie free agent fullback from Oklahoma State, dropped two passes in the early goings. Not the way you want to open up your first training camp.

** Not only was Justin Rogers playing inside linebacker as Bradie James' backup, but he was also calling the defense. I think it's just a way for him to get more accustomed to playing inside, but he was receiving help from Kevin Burnett. Note to self - ask Bobby Carpenter about wanting to play the Mo linebacker spot instead of the Mike. Right now Carpenter is working with the third team.

** Marc Colombo had a pancake block of rookie Darrell Robertson and a touchdown catch in the same day.

** The conditioning looked good. I didn't see any gassed players after the first workout. We'll see what it's like after the pads come on.

** To answer some e-mails - No on Chris Henry. No on Joe Horn (although I might think differently if he's cut and the price comes down to the minimum).

** News of Danny Amendola's great diving catch will send the masses into hysteria. After an excellent rookie camp, Amendola kind of disappeared in the OTAs but he was noticeable in that last mini-camp. I'm not saying he's making the team yet but maybe there is something there.

** Maybe he should have a mic on because Tank Johnson is funny. NFL Films would have a lot of good stuff from him. He actually did a YMCA dance for some kids in the early part of Friday's workout.

** Now that first rounders Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins have their deals, the first call I'm making is to Brad Blank, the agent for defensive end Chris Canty, and working out an extension. The next call is to Pat Dye, who represents DeMarcus Ware, and getting a deal for him worked out.</div>

    The Amendola hype maching begins.....
