It won't be a Hail Mary pass, an onside kick, or even a game-winning field goal slicing through rare November air. In fact, it won't even take place on the playing field. History will be made in the Rice-Eccles Stadium board room. At 12:30 p.m. today, with the chairman calling the signals, the University of Utah Board of Trustees will vote, we assume unanimously, to ditch the Mountain West Conference and join the Pac-10 in 2011. Then, no doubt, there will be high-fiving, fist-bumping, chest-thumping and enough sustained applause to warrant a flag for excessive celebration.
