I didnt think you could even talk to kids unless they were a certain age. I thought you could only give offers to players that were going into thier senior year. I could be wrong, but for some reason, I think this is sort of breaking NCAA sanctions and rules.

I remember this one really good cross country runner getting a letter back in freshman year from Texas A&M. That was back in the day, man.
Yeah it dont think it matters how old you are, theres a couple kids who I know that are sophomores and juniors who are already being scouted for basketball, one had a LSU scout come out to see him play. Its pretty cool.

damn, so even if he turns out to be a scrub, he still has a scholarship waiting for him? I didnt read the article but dang that is crazy. he could just stay at the same level for the next 4 years, then what are they gonna do
Are you kidding me? I know football programs cannot talk to recruits until they are in their junior year in high school, and they cannot officially offer a scholarship until their senior year in high school. There has got to be some sort of NCAA rule that USC is breaking here...

Also, he still hasnt taken his ACT or SAT. He has to get a high enough score to get into school as well. Another thing, if this is legal, at any time he cant withdraw from it since it is a deal with a minor. He can go into court and get out of any type of deal since he was a minor at the time and plea that since he was a minor, he didnt have great judgement on the situation.

But it doesn't matter, his agreement is non-binding anyway. He can go wherever he wants, essentially.
