Amazing! I can only imagine how fantastical all of these things sounded in 1964. Many things Clarke mentioned have come true including skyscraper cities, communicating and working from anywhere, and doctors performing surgeries from afar, and increased lifespans due to marvels in medicine.

Though we haven't gone planet of the apes and made apes our servants we have progressed in communicating with them in sign language. We are still coming to understand the cries of Whales and Dolphins.

We have seen the advent of Robots/AI, with many forms being created. We have seen robots since the 1980s and 1990s but AI is getting better than ever with developments in technology. They may soon become our overlords. Not so sure he is right that we should be weary of that.

We have done unmanned interplanetary travel with probes. A manned mission to Mars and a base on the moon are slowly becoming a reality. Eventually a base on Mars is in the picture.

Terraforming is a thing yet of science fiction, but with the evolution of technology it seems closer to being possible and no so crazy as it might have been in 1964.

We have yet to see a machine as far as I know, that can imprint information directly into the brain. We have seen machines that connect to the brain and help disabled people speak and to move prosthetics. We are still in early stages of the possibilities there, but again it's very possible. We have seen machines like in the Matrix where you can immediately learn a language or martial art. This isn't reality yet, but the idea is out there.

Deleting memories from brains. That is likely harder to do and has not been done yet. Though again we have seen it in movies.

Replicators maybe the hardest thing to become a reality in our world. There would have to be a huge shift in the way we look at the world. Right now, everything is based around monetary value. Replicators would abolish the need for money. Only large corporations could own them at this point, replicating products. There is no way those in power (corporations and such) would allow everyone to have access to one.

But, we have seen in Star Trek and other shows and movies the possibility of having them. We are still far off though.

Technology for that has been around for centuries. I believe it’s called “alcohol”. That or a Louisville Slugger.
