Priest's goal this year is to have 2300 yards rushing. I doubt hell make it, but ive learned not to doubt Priest. I dont think hes a hall of fame RB, but if he did rush for over 2000 yards, would you put him into the hall?
I would say 10k yards for the career or close to it and certain circumstance, like Terrell Davis's injury situation, gets you in...less than that, its tough....also, if you ever quit on your team to smoke pot, you are never eligible, no matter how many yards you end with...
I think it is moving to 12k yards for HOF, and injury exceptions, but not for TD, not convinced he would have made it. Dominic davis said he is going to hit 2000 yards this season also.
You dont think that Priest is a Hall of fame runningback. He hasnt even been playing that long and he has had such a fantastic career. I think he has a chance to break Eric Dickerson's record this season because Jamal almost did it last year. That record should be broken soon, wether its Priest, LT, Fred Taylor or freaking TJ Duckett. If i was on the HOF comitee and Priest retired now i would start a countdown of five years to the day i could nominate him. Because i think that priest is in the top 5 of runningbacks in The NFL and if not hes the Best runningback in the NFL.
Cliff, -Priest is almost 33 -HEs had 4 1000 yard rushing seasons in 7 years. -He has at most, 2 years left in the tank -has 66 TDs. thats good, but Emmit Smith has over 150, and Marshal has 90 some. They are the only other for sure Hall of Famers in the league. LT is on pace to have over 100TDs. Curtis Martin who is most likely a HOF has 70 some, but is the most consistent back ever. Eddie George who is on the bubble, has 63, but also has been the most durable back ever. And when u mentioned possible players to break Dickersons record, how could u put TJ Ducket and Fred "groin injury" taylor on that list. If any1 does it, itll be LT, Priest or Deuce, THe way i judge RBs career and if they are Hall worthy, is they must have more yards in thousands, than seasons played, and it must be over 9 seasons. so far Priest has 6000 some yards in 7 seasons. If he got the 2300, hed probably be a HOFer, but i doubt he does
Well Cliff, the more years that go by the tougher it needs to be to get into the HOF. 1000 yard seasons haven't meant much since they went to 16 game seasons. Priest has proven his metal over the last five years with over 1500 yds each of the years (except one and still over 1400) and a year over 1600. I'm not sure what it takes to get in, but if he's not, he's right on the cusp. Maybe one more year, but he should probably get in based on the last five. He's that good.
His stats are still pretty high and i think that in like the next three years his touchdown total will climb very high. last season he had an NFL record 27 touchdowns. Hes so good. I think he will play for about 3 or 4 more years climbing to over 100 touchdowns. I was just naming people and when i said TJ Duckett it was just a joke. I said it like even freaking TJ Duckett, like saying he sucks. And Preist being 33 thats not that old.
r u kidding me, for a RB that is a dinosaur.i know he didnt get alot of carries till later in his career, but still thats really really reaally really old. i think only Emmit and Dorsey levens are older.
Yeah you are right. I remember watching this NFL best plays video from like the 80's and i got to the runningback part and it said the average career for a runningback is 3 years. now what would you say the average is.

Sayers came back from the same injury rushed for a 1000 more yards and retired, it is a different situation, besides i am convinced he would have hit 15000 yards
sorry KC, i was a year off. Sayers played in a different time to, when surgery wasnt really an option and the ability to come back after bad injuries wasnt that good.
I'm not a slave to numbers. I think you have to look at the whole picture and not just stats when considering players for the Hall of Fame. Priest was an undrafted free agent that worked his way to becoming an amazing runner and touchdown machine. If Priest hasn't earned a spot in the Hall, he's not far from it in my mind. I would absolutely put Terrell Davis in the Hall of Fame. He was too important to the Broncos' Super Bowl Teams to not be in there.
He's like another Emmitt Smith but better. He has a line that could let a frickin freight train through. Now don't get me wrong he does his part of hitting the right holes and using his speed at the right times. But i think if you put him behind a line like Carolina's right now, he would'nt have as many yards or TD's.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bleedblk&gld)</div><div class='quotemain'>But i think if you put him behind a line like Carolina's right now, he would'nt have as many yards or TD's.</div> Well of course he wouldn't. Every good running back has an offensive line to thank in the end. If Priest continues tearing up the league like he is right now, then yes, he'll be in the hall of fame. The fact is, he has absolutely dominated for the past few years. Any player that dominates like he does year in and year out deserves the hall. I don't think there is any real test to determine who gets in the hall, but setting the record for most TD's in a season is pretty important.
