Here's a list of the free agents to keep an eye on this summer. Point Guards Marko Jaric Earl Watson Antonio Daniels Damon Stoudamire Nick Van Exel (player option) Bobby Jackson (player option) Damon Jones (player option) Gary Payton Jeff McInnis Dan Dickau Tyronn Lue Darrell Armstrong Shooting Guards Michael Redd Ray Allen Larry Hughes Joe Johnson Willie Green Cutino Mobley (player option) Jalen Rose (player option) Eddie Jones (player option) Latrell Sprewell Kerry Kittles Raja Bell Flip Murray Small Forwards Bobby Simmons Vladimir Radmonivic Kyle Korver Grant Hill (player option) Jamaal Mashburn (player option) Bonzi Wells (player option) Devean George (player option) Glenn Robinson Gerald Wallace Luke Walton Jason Kapono Matt Bonner Power Forwards Shareef Abdur Rahim Kwame Brown Tyson Chandler Antoine Walker Donyell Marshall Keith Van Horn (player option) Darius Songalia (player option) Austin Croshere (player option) Cliff Robinson (player option) Udonis Haslem Bo Outlaw Mark Madsen Eddie Griffin Reggie Evans Centers Stromile Swift Samuel Dalembert Eddy Curry Zydrunas Ilgauskas Shaq O'neal (player option) Predrag Drobnjak (player option) Dale Davis Jerome James Jahidi White Ervin Johnson Dan Gadzuric Zaza Pachulia
id love to see shaq back out of the player option lol... but i think Dalembert is gonna get some money after his nice playoff performance
From what i see on the Hoopshype salary chart, Shaq's next year contract is not a player option.......and it's worth 30 million as well, I like to see another team offer him just as much.
I'd also watch for Brevin Knight after his superb season end distributing the ball for the Bobcats. Chris Duhon might also get some consideration by teams looking for a solid young point guard, although he's restricted and likely to return to the Bulls.
I think Dan Dickau is a player ready to explode. He was carrying the Hornets along with J.R. Smith. Then Bobby Jackson, he's going to be a starter for any but the Kings next year. Flip Murray is destined for stardom. Then watch for Luke Walton and Kyle Korver to get some big money. I think if Songaila is out there. He's going to be a player a lot of teams try to get cheap.
I dont think this Free Agent List is not where you will find players who can change your franchise. You have people like Allen and Redd who are the only proven stars. Then the rest just fill out as players who have just come off of a good season. I think if you look at teams like the T'Wolves and Lakers and then the playoff teams you will see most of them go after players who will go for the MLE.
I agree there's not players who can be franchise players except for maybe Allen. But you do have guys that can fill in the holes that teams have. And you are also being able to find players that can be that sidekick to your franchise player.
Shape's latest article has me thinking in classifications, so here's my interpertation of this year's free agent crop: The Young Building Block Bobby Simmons (UFA) Michael Redd (UFA) Eddy Curry (RFA) Stromile Swift (UFA) Samuel Dalembert (RFA) Larry Hughes (UFA) Gerald Wallace (RFA) Joe Johnson (RFA) Kwame Brown (RFA) The Stud Veteran Ray Allen (UFA) Antoine Walker (UFA) Zydrunas Ilgauskas (UFA) Shareef Abdur-Rahim (UFA) The Useful Veteran Donyell Marshall (UFA) Damon Stoudamire (UFA) Brevin Knight (UFA) Jeff McInnis (UFA) Kerry Kittles (UFA) The Up-And-Comer Vladimir Radmanovic (RFA) Tyson Chandler (RFA) Marko Jaric (RFA) Earl Watson (UFA) Udonis Haslem (RFA) Dan Dickau (UFA) Kyle Korver (RFA) Ronald "Flip" Murray (UFA) The Role Player with Upside Raja Bell (UFA) Keith Bogans (RFA) Othella Harrington (UFA) Dan Gadzuric (RFA) Eddie Griffin (RFA) Jerome James (UFA) Antonio Daniels (UFA) This isn't a great group of free agents, but there is quality that shouldn't cost too much. I did not include players with options in my list.
Nice, I liked how you classified these free agents. I think that Shareef would fit better in the "Useful Veteran" column though.

Remember, though, that the last time he averaged 35 minutes, he also averaged 20 points and 9 boards. While it remains to be seen if he can return to that level, I'm betting that he can average at least 18/8. That's real good production for a guy who probably isn't going to cost all that much, with younger options to be had. I think he can still be well above average as a starter.
Definetly watch Chicago, New York, LA, Cleveland especially plus anyone else who didnt make the playoffs to try and get Shaq for a start! Cleveland will be going after Michael Redd or Ray Allen. Chicago will be trying to keep its team together. New York have a long way to go. They may go for Spreewell and make their team even older! Speaking of Minnesota, a huge shuffle around needs to be done to make a way better team. LA needs some better post players. And New Orleans, Atlanta and Portland will try and go after anybody!
If cleveland re signs Ilgauskaus and picks up ray allan they are championship contenders, anyone believe me?

Quoting vijay01:

If cleveland re signs Ilgauskaus and picks up ray allan they are championship contenders, anyone believe me?
They won't have enough cap to do that. They have to decide Ilgauskus, Allen or Redd.

Quoting J_Ray:

They won't have enough cap to do that. They then would still have the money to pay Ilgauskus and wouldn't that be something, having Lebron, Ilgauskus, Allen, and Mcmillan coaching.
Or ... what if they lure McMillan + Ray Allen + Jerome James + Antonio Daniels + Reggie Evans + Radman

Nate has been with Seattle for his entire career, i dont think he'll just leave us and take our star player with him, he wont do that to our city.

So maybe they can get Reggie. LOL
