Actually, it's more of a caveat to cloud things up so that some can't figure out and the rest of us can't prove who is really pulling all the strings. Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula. Translation - Robert Kraft decides who gets what and gives that list to his monkey boy, Goodall, so if your a Jets fan, don't hold your breath.
