The 2008 FIFA Club World Cup is currently underway in Japan once again. Manchester United are clear favorites to win the tournament, but there have been major upsets before. LDU Quito, Pachuca and Gamba Osaka all look very strong to make this a great, yet short cup. A brief explanation to those of you that don't know how this works: LDU Quito (Ecuador) qualify as winners of the 2008 Copa Libertadores Manchester United (England) qualify as winners of the 2008 UEFA Champions League Pachuca (Mexico) qualify as winners of the 2008 CONCACAF Champions' Cup Gamba Osaka (Japan) qualify as winners of the 2008 AFC Champions League Al-Ahly (Egypt) qualify as winners of the 2008 CAF Champions League Waitakere United (New Zealand) qualify as winners of the 2008 OFC Champions League Adelaide United (Australia) qualify as runners-up in the 2008 AFC Champions League Note that Adelaide United qualified replacing the host country's club as a Japanese club (Gamba Osaka) already won the AFC Champions League. This year a match to play for fifth-place will return after being absent from the previous tournament. I think this is actually an important match in such a tournament as it will truly place all of the clubs in order of worst to best based on continental federation. Being from the strongest federations, Manchester United and LDU Quito qualify for the semi-finals where Manchester United will either face Adelaide United, Waitakere United or Gamba Osaka and Quito will face either Al-Ahly or Pachuca. We will find out on December 13 and 14. Clubs Waitakere United and Adelaide United are the first to face off against one another in the play-in qualification. The losing club is ranked seventh, obviously. The winner will face Gamba Osaka on December 14. The match is currently being aired on Fox Soccer Channel and I believe all matches from the tournament will be played on the channel including the final on December 21.
Currently on FSC, Adelaide United are leading Waitakere United 2-1 with not much time left into stoppage time.
I'm not sure. Apparently it has been on in the UK in the past, but not a single network there has the rights this year. I was reading about it here. Perhaps the Manchester United matches will be played only, but it would be a shame to miss the whole tournament because the Al-Ahly v Pachuca match was absolutely fantastic. Al-Ahly took the lead mid-way through the first half and then seemed to clinch the match with a goal right before the half-time whistle. Pachuca opened the second half with two goals and nearly won in the dying seconds of stoppage time. Pachuca continued their dominant comeback by winning 4-2 at the end of added extra time. I didn't get to see the Adelaide United v Gamba Osaka match, but the Japanese club won 1-0. You guys should find torrents because I'm sure the remaining matches will be great. A wrap up then: Pachuca will face LDU Quito on December 17 and Gamba Osaka will face off against Manchester United on December 18. I'm definitely seeing on Manchester United v Quito in the final.
When Liverpool were in it, their matches were on channel five, but the TV rights for football changed in this country recently so...
I wanted Quito, Al Ahly or Gamba Osaka to win from the beginning. With one of them (my favorite pick) gone now, I'm hoping for a Quito v Gamba Osaka final where I won't have to be disappointed with the outcome.
Gamba Osaka played very well, but as expected the final will be contested between LDU Quito and Manchester United. I believe Quito will come out on top, making this the perfect ending to Edgardo Bauza's managerial career with the Ecuadorian outfit. Also, CK you may want to read the opening post about viewing matches.
United! United! United! United will win this hands down. http://www.goalsarena.com/video/oth...anchester-utd-club-world-championship_en.html Look at Ronaldos beautiful header. Now that is the reason why Ronaldo is the best in the World and by a HUGE GAP. Messi can never do that in his life because he is so short and can't jump for shit.
The games are on sunday I believe on Fox Sports en Espanol. And i saw my first match of the competition the other day, United vs the japanese team.. lol
