<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>New South Carolina head coach Darrin Horn landed his first commitment on Wednesday when class of 2009 shooting guard Lakeem Jackson verballed to the Gamecocks, according to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. The 6-foot-5 Jackson was first offered by Horn when the coach was at Western Kentucky.

"I have a great relationship with Coach Horn," Jackson told the paper. "I like his style. I like to run."

ESPN.com's recruiting director Bob Gibbons says the Gamecocks landed a superb athlete who can do it all.

"South Carolina crossed the state line and grabbed the best athlete in North Carolina in Jackson," Gibbons said. "He can play three positions, point guard, shooting guard and wing forward. He helped Christ School win the North Carolina 3-A private school state championship last season and is a stellar performer for the Charlotte Royals AAU team, often running the point for them. He was outstanding at the LeBron James Skills Academy earlier this month."

Gibbons goes on to say Jackson doesn't mind physical play but needs to work on his shooting.

"He is physically strong at 220 pounds and can overpower most guards," Gibbons said. "Jackson will likely fill Zam Frederick's spot at two guard when he arrives at USC. He does need to become a better outside shooter but he has the total package of guard skills. I project him as an immediate starter for Coach Horn's Gamecocks."

Jackson turned down offers from Georgia Tech, Marquette, Clemson and Western Kentucky.</div>
