Not really feeling the roster. Bornstein and Rogers are both terrible and shouldn't be considered for the US anymore. Bornstein has hardly played since going to Mexico and hasn't been playing defense in those sparse appearances. The Adu pick is interesting, he's been very solid for Rizespor but I'm still very surprised to see him over Alejandro Bedoya who has been absolutely tearing it up in Sweden this year. I would have liked Diskerud there too, but Bedoya is an easy choice. I'd be getting pretty pissed about Timothy Chandler, but he opted off the roster as he needs a mental and physical break after his first full-time season as a pro. Spector provides a lot of flexability playing anywhere in the back four and showing well at midfield for West Ham. Wondolowski is another shocker at forward over Bunbury, Buddle, or Gomez. Wondo provides some flexability as he can play on the right, but so does Gomez and he's been better of late and has fit in better with the US. If I'm picking the 23, give me Buddle over Wondo, Bedoya over Rogers, and Heath Pearce over Bornstein. I also think about Diskerud over Adu or Kljestan, but can't fault those picks too much.

Gold Cup: Five Mexico players test positive for banned substance Starters Ochoa, Rodríguez, Sinha among those suspended for taking clenbuterol Five players on Mexico’s Gold Cup squad have tested positive for a banned substance and will be removed from the roster, Mexican Soccer Federation general secretary Decio de María confirmed in a press conference on Thursday. Starting goalie Guillermo Ochoa and first-choice center back Francisco Rodríguez are two of the players who tested positive for clenbuterol, a substance used to treat breathing disorders and that is also used on animals to produce lean meat. The three other players to test positive were Antonio Naelson “Sinha”, Christián Bermúdez and Édgar Dueñas, none of whom started in El Tri’s 5-0 rout of El Salvador on Sunday. http://www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/ne...mexico-players-test-positive-banned-substance
El Tri On Top Hernández, dos Santos lead Mexico into QFs with 5-0 rout of Cuba CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Braces from hot striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and Giovani dos Santos and another goal from Aldo de Nigris helped Mexico soar to their second 5-0 victory in the Gold Cup, this time against an outmatched Cuba on Thursday night at Bank of America Stadium. Cuba had held Mexico scoreless until the 35th minute, until Hernández met a cross from left winger Andrés Guardado. Still, the Caribbean nation managed to keep things tight, but El Tri flexed their muscles in the second half and, in a 14-minute span, sunk four more goals. http://www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/ne...ernández-dos-santos-lead-mexico-5-0-rout-cuba Gold Cup: Costa Rica rescue 1-1 draw vs. El Salvador Brenes' last-gasp thrust in stoppage time salvages point for Ticos CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Just when it seemed as though El Salvador would pull an upset win over Costa Rica, Randall Brenes swooped in and rescued a 1-1 draw for Los Ticos five minutes into second-half stoppage time at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday night in their CONCACAF Gold Cup Group A match. Rodolfo Zelaya had given Los Cuscatlecos a 1-0 lead late in the first half, when he cracked a free kick into the net. The Salvadorans set out the same way they did in their successful first half against Mexico last Sunday. With a solid back four and strong holding midfield, they managed to ward off Costa Rica for the majority of the match. The few options the Ticos were able to generate in the first frame were nothing more than diluted advances by left winger Cristian Bolaños along the flank and a couple of bullied attempts by Real Salt Lake striker Álvaro Saborío. Deadly goal scorer Marcos Ureña hardly got a touch and was substituted in the second half by Bryan Ruiz http://www.mlssoccer.com/goldcup/ne...cup-costa-rica-rescue-1-1-draw-vs-el-salvador
