So far this year, out of their first 129 games the Yanx have scored 3 runs or less in 61 of those games.

...averaging 4.2 runs per game and only 7.5 hits per game, team BA of .229, OBP 0f .304, ...and have been shut out 8 times.

...one of the worst Yankee teams ever. And with the exception of Cole and Judge, they are not even worth watching at all.

That's funny Ron. I thought to myself this morning that this is flat out one of the worst teams in baseball. I don't remember in my time watching the Yankees a team this bad offensively.

Also, to your point. I don't remember the last time I had little to no interest in even turning a game on.

I echo both of your sentiments. Mess, I’ve been watching the yanks since 1961 and there have been some pretty bad hitting teams late 60’s and early 70’s. The difference now I think is besides a couple of teams we enjoy a rather large advantage in money spent and the disaster this year has been is directly rated to cashman and his lack of knowledge at building a team. It’s been good enough in the past to be competitive but now he’s so bad at it it doesn’t matter how much money he throws at it. Hal is one of the few owners so unprepared in terms of what goes on with a baseball team that he lets cashman get away with it and looks like he’ll bring him back again. The latest disaster rodon getting hit hard again. Another 5 years to look forward to with thei hurt mental midget. Happy to say when I saw this on prime I chose to spend the day in the pool with my grandkids. At least my giants look good and my rangers should be competitive next month when they start.

Since there's no game thread...I thought I'd add this...Torres flat out sucks...a butcher defensively, mediocre offensively.

Yet another epic team fail...a decent start by Rodon foiled by Boone and his BP moves which coughs up 5 unanswered runs...all 4 runs from the Yanx come via the HR.

...and the team amasses 4 hits in 31 ABs...as it has been for years, TB has more real BB players...the Yanx simply are not athletic enough to be a real threat to anyone.

...does Hal not recognize the flaws in Cashman's roster?...or does he recognize it and just doesn't care?...the Yanx are wasting Cole's and Judge's best years.

I don't think Hal knows enough about baseball to realize Trashman's been screwing his pooch for 2 decades now. When it comes to his youngest son Hal, the best of King George ran down his leg.

The LLWS was considerably more entertaining, and a bunch of 12 year olds played sounder fundamentals baseball, than this group of supposed professionals, the last couple of weeks.

Matts, it's hard to believe that Hal is this f'n dumb...I think he's simply a polar opposite of his Dad...Hal simply doesn't care because he'll make money regardless of the team's success.

Ditto Ron. I bet watching your garden growing is more entertaining than watching the shit-show of Yankee wannabes.

...lol, yeah, you're right. Cukes and maters are winding down...beans are still making and of course I'll still be picking okra till first frost.

...pretty bad as a Yanx fan these days.

DETROIT — Hal Steinbrenner is promising a “deep dive” into the Yankees’ organization — including its analytics wing — as they head down the stretch at risk of having its first losing season in 31 years.

For a club that entered the year with World Series aspirations — and the second-highest luxury tax payroll in MLB (currently projected to be roughly $295 million, per Cot’s Contracts) — the Yankees have been a brutal disappointment, carrying a 65-69 record into the final month of the season.

“We’re going to take a very deep dive into everything we’re doing,” Steinbrenner told the Associated Press on Thursday at the club’s minor league complex in Tampa. “We’re looking to bring in possibly an outside company to really take a look at the analytics side of what we do. Baseball operations in general. We’re going to have some very frank conversions with each other. This year was obviously unacceptable.”

General manager Brian Cashman recently called the Yankees’ season “a disaster,” echoing Steinbrenner’s pledge that “every aspect of the operation” would be evaluated.

The longtime GM just signed a new four-year contract last offseason while manager Aaron Boone has one year left on his deal after this season, plus a team option for 2025.

The Yankees have faced criticisms for relying too heavily on analytics and/or their analytics group not being up to par with other top organizations around the league.

Steinbrenner and Cashman have said the Yankees strike the right balance between analytics and pro scouting, but it appears the former will be under the microscope this offseason.

With the Yankees getting closer to being eliminated from playoff contention by the day, they will have a longer offseason than usual to undergo the organizational autopsy.

The Yankees were 36-25 on June 4, the day after Aaron Judge tore a ligament in his big right toe while slamming into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium, but have gone just 29-44 since then.

That included a 7-18 free-fall from July 30-Aug. 27 in which they spiraled out of playoff contention, leading them to turn their attention to the future.

That will continue on Friday when top prospects Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells are called up to make their major league debuts.

Hal obviously doesn't have a clue.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Trashman continuing to destroy rookie talent, like Wells and the Martian. I hope not, but...

Never understood why a company (Hal) would pay another company to tell him what he should already be very aware of...which is that Cashman has run this franchise into the ground.

    Exactly what I thought!
Imo, Hal's paying twice for that which is initially Trashman's job to accomplish in the first place.

Either Trashman hasn't a clue, and/or his (Trashman's) viewpoint(s), are not to be trusted. I think it's both, then some...

If a long term GM is incapable of determining what's wrong with his ballclub, then he's no longer necessary. If he can't see the problem(s), then he's a major part of the problem!

Matts, the only explanation of Cashman's apparent hold over Hal I can think of, is that evidently Cashman must have some naked pictures of Hal in a hotel room with a goat.

I've never been impressed with Cashman, but what really put me over the top was when several years ago, he told Jeter who was in a contract year, to "Go test the market".

...I would love to see Jeter get Cashman's job.

Laughing at Boone trying to spin things in his favor...pack your bags, Boone, you're toast...and take Cashman with you.

Also found this take on Volpe's GG chances.

"Volpe might be prone to making the occasional mistake, but the numbers say he has had a very solid season as a defender at shortstop. Phillips shows the numbers before Sunday’s game, stating that Volpe has three Outs Above Average (OAA), 15 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and a 0.6 Ultimate Zone Rating (UZR). We don’t know how the Gold Glove will ultimately shake out because there is strong competition in the American League, but the evidence shows Volpe has been an asset on defense."
