Scoot / Ant Sharpe / Thybulle Avdija / Camara Grant / Timelord Ayton / Clingan Too good for our lottery chances
naaah, the Hawks got the #1 pick after competing for a playoff spot. The Wizards landed Sarr because the Hawks are stupid. Then the Rockets .500 team grabbed a super rookie because the Nets imploded. Portland just needs to have fun and play basketball, and the losing will take care of itself.
I want Grant and Thybulle traded if we can get great return The rest of the roster, they can win all they want, I will be rooting for them all esp Sharpe to have a breaktout season
I sort of agree, but then I just can't see Simons being moved to the bench. I'd think they start with Scott off the bench.
Coach started Ant over Scoot last season. All of coach's assistants were fired by the Blazers. I honestly have no idea if there's a connection, but it's not out of the question.
Not at first though. Scoot started game one next to Ant (which was a mistake) But who knows if it was an experiment or not since Ant got hurt in game one. Scoot started 32 0f his 62 games.
Love what we've seen from Clingan, this is now how I'd allocation minutes if it were my choice; Banton 20 Scoot 28 Sharpe 23 Ant 25 Camara 28 Sharpe 7 Grant 25 Deni 23 Clingan 26 Timelord 22 (Ayton takes Timelord minutes on back to backs)
You nailed the final roster back in June. I had many posters here assure me we'd see trades or signings and the roster wasn't finished, but nothing has happened in 5 months. Will be super depressing if we still have all of our vets on this roster in a little over 2 months after the trade deadline. If I had to bet I might lean towards that being the most likely outcome, unfortunately though.
I'm okay with our 3 vets (Simons, Grant, and Ayton). If we get a good deal for them (young talent, 1st round picks and/or expiring contracts), then pull the trigger. If not, none are bad contracts or cancers in the locker room. Here's my thoughts on the lineup - The only thing I would do different than what Billups is currently doing is to give Clingan and Scoot a bit more playing time off the bench. But not at the expense of losing (yes, I know that's not a popular opinion here). I'm a big believer in earning that starting spot. Build a winning culture.
I think Sharpe needs to be playing 35+ minutes per game and see what the team looks like with him having the ball a lot. Is Sharpe a star player who should be paid like that? We need to find out. Scoot right now is far behind. Both he and Banton need to learn how to get the most out of Sharpe and play off of Sharpe's "gravity" to break down the other teams defense. I never want to see Sharpe standing in the corner not touching the ball on multiple possessions. That's a fail by the coaching staff.
