I've waited 21 years to see my favorite team back in the NBA finals.. 22 years since I've seen a Celtic player hoist the trophy. Thankfully this team is not like the '87 team.. injured and hobbled. No bad back for KG like Larry, No ankles problems for Paul like McHale had.. this team is relatively healthy and ready to play! Like the great Celtics teams of the 80's, this team is dominant at home and thankfully they have home court for the finals. Now if they can just win one of 3 games in LA, this will be a sweet redemptive series for fans who have been around as long as I have and had to sufffer through poor draft choices, horrible ownership, inept management and poor choices in free agency. There's no single issue to point at for the Celtics near 20 years of ineptitude (The one ECF's appearance saved us from a total 20 years of piss poor results), but it sure did suck to be a Celtics fan. Ainge has made the right moves this past year and the Celtics are relevant again (much to the haters disdain apparently) and regardless of what's being posted on soooo many basketball forums.. it feels great! I am so pumped for these finals to begin.. I believe either team can win the series so here's hoping it's a memorably series! You know who I'll be rooting for.

At least Black Mamba is a Lakers fan, he's supposed to be rootin for those bozos who don't stand a chance
The Celtics are going to put up a helluva a fight, but somehow I have a feeling that LA is still going to take it. Kobe didn't come this far just to lose. It's his year. Boston is going to have a good chance at the title next year. Just look at the East. Most of the teams are rebuilding, and I really doubt a team like the Cavs or perhaps Hawks will edge them out, even though Atlanta put up a really good fight this year.
You know our team doesn't huevon. Never put up conference championship banners, or even division banners. lol Only NBA Champions banners in the Garden.

I love how all the experts are in love with the Lakers' flashy, beautiful offense, and as a result pick them to win the series. Defense wins championships. Great defense will beat the great offense. Those people are so ****ing stupid. One guy actually said that the Lakers have Kobe, they can't lose. Guess what? We have two players, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who are FAR hungrier for their FIRST ring than that guy is for what his fourth? What bullshit. **** ESPN and all their experts who use Kobe as a crutch to say that the Lakers will beat us. Fucktards.

He can drop 40 any given game. This is the MVP. The guy who's been hungry to prove the doubters wrong since day 1. Peirce is the truth, but Kevin Garnett doesn't seem all that hungry...especially when he backed down from Zaza Pachulia in round one. And Kobe Bryant isn't the "crutch". Hell, Boston proved in regular season he wasn't enough. But now...you've got a good, polished all-star big man in Gasol, who not only produces great for himself, but also opens things up for players like Odom and Kobe. Hell, the Lakers have already beaten the Nuggets, which is a top offensive team; the Jazz, with one of the best PG-bigman combos in the league; and the reigning champions, the Spurs, with the top big man in the game and one of the best back courts in the league (even though the 2 are sometimes overrated). They got past one of the "best" (and cheapest) defenders in the league. And they're supposed to be afraid of the Celtics, who hadda go 7 games against the worst team in the playoffs, 7 games against a one-man team (even if that one man is the 1st or 2nd best player in the league), and a Detroit team way past their prime, with an injured PG. And I'm still wondering where this "great defense" is.

I was looking for the great defense of the Celtics in those series, and rarely saw it. I did see a slower pace, though, similar to what Detroit does. That may mean less points, sure, but not necessarily better defense. Also, make note of the difference between "best teams" and "teams with best records". There is a difference.
