During the draft they briefly showed the Hornets have made the playoffs only 2 times in the last 19 years. The NBA's advanced G-league team
Yeah the Hornets made a lot of stupid decisions for decades now. It seems like more of the well run franchises that have gone to the lottery are able to build talent and get out in 3-6 years. Sometimes with only a middling team, but sometimes eventually with a contender. If you could have a few years of being as bad as the Hornets but then get a coin flip of ending up with a contender - vs being stuck making the playoffs but losing the whole time - what would you want? There are many fans that strongly want one or the other - its more of a personal choice and doesn't have a right or wrong answer. I guess if I was set to go to games every year I might prefer something different.
With the exception of 2014 look at the rosters that Lillard drug on his back to the playoffs. Some of those teams were a fucking joke and I honestly believe Olshey constructed them to tank.
He 100% constructed that 2016 team to tank. He was planning on getting another lottery pick that year and Dame had other ideas.
