For a second rounder, I like what I see: http://www.mynbadraft.com/NBA-Draft-Profiles-2012/Kyle-OQuinn
...he was beastin' during their March Madness run, but I am curious to know why his numbers dropped during his senior year?!
Very intriguing. I also like the sound of Robert Sacre (no doubt people on this board have seen him play a fair amount and could comment) but your guy sounds like a better rebounder, if shorter.
I have a rule that I like to call the Michael Finley rule (although it could just as well be called the Karl Malone Rule): "worry less about a drop in numbers in a senior year than a jump in numbers." That is, if your guy was crappy until a sudden surge in his senior year, don't draft him: he's a flash in the pan. But if he was good but his numbers dipped in his senior year (like Finley's and Malone's) then this is probably because of having to carry more of the load and just be glad because it'll mean he'll drop in the draft to where you're drafting.
Or maybe package both picks for a center like JaVale McGee. I am not teasing you by saying packaging both to move up to get Fournier is ridiculous either. I think that would be a wise move
In this guy's particular case I think his team improved and he didn't have to do as much. His playing time dropped almost 2 mpg, FG% rose from 55.6% to 57.3%, assists rose from 1 to 1.4, and as we saw his team was good enough to make it to the tourney and have a nice little run. Seems like he did get slightly more efficient and he was playing on a really good team, I wouldn't shy away from him. 7'5 wingspan too apparently.
