Should the Panthers have gone for the 2pt conversion with 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter?

If they went for 1, then the score would've been 31-28 with Vinatieri kicking for the tie with 0:09 left (instead of kicking for the win at 29-29). It's interesting. I think it was too early to go for the 2pt. conversion. Too much time left.

    Fugazi,

At the time these conversations were attempted
the patroits d wasnt stopping the panthers offense.
Yep it was a gamble but had it been converted different
story. All i can really say is the worst part of the game
i seen was the kicker booting a kickoff out of bounds.
103 secs left in the game was too much time to move 40
    yards.

I know what you're saying (and yeah, the out of bounds kick off was worse), but there have been too many games this season where a coach goes for 2 early and then pays for it by the end of the game. In a close contest, I don't think the 2 should factor into the decision until late in the game.

I'm not saying Fox's decision cost them the game. Far from it. I just think it was a very questionable call.

I agree FUGAZI that it was probably to early in the game for a two point conversion. Also, I would like to welcome you to the forums and can see that you are contributing right away. What team do you pull for?

It was too early, in hindsight, that eventually cost the Panthers 3 total pts, -2 for them, and +1 for NE, so a quick look at the score will tell you the real loser was the football loving public who all missed out on the most exciting possible event in football histrory, Super Bowl overtime!!!

Welcome Fugazi! I'm looking forward to a heated but good natured and enjoyable rivalry with ya! Wish you had been around when the Dolphins were sweeping the Jets this season. [IMG]

Welcome Fugazi. At least you have a young QB on the rise in Pennington. If he stays healthy, maybe you guys return to the playoffs. Welcome to the boards.
