Okay, now that the debate over drafting Scoot is over, I’m starting to get excited about a three guard rotation of Dame, Sharpe and Scoot. That rotation just doesn’t give opponents any breathing space. I like Ant, but there’s always been a bit of hesitation to his game when playing with Dame. I don’t think that’s going to be a problem with Scoot. On defense, Scoot and Shaedon are both strong guys who aren’t afraid to mix it up on the defensive end. Ant tries on defense, but he’s never going to be a great defender. I’m assuming he’s going to be traded. We’ll miss his three point shooting, but holy hell, with dynamic slashers like Scoot and Sharpe paired with Dame’s perimeter shooting, it’s going to be fun next fall win or lose.

The best thing I like about Scoots game is he likes to push the ball like this team has never seen. Dame will accept and adjust as he knows we still have assets to bring on vets.
I dont he will be like Westbrook in that he'll want to pad his stats.
We got a taste of a small guard with length and toughness with Powell and when Norm went to the hoop it really opened things up.

it's a nice dream; and having Dame around to mentor Scoot and Sharpe would be fantastic and critical for their development

I'm not sure if Dame will be willing to settle for mentorship in the next 4 years though

in any event, it seems obvious that Ant is the odd man out and if there is hope of holding onto Dame, Ant needs to be traded for a veteran upgrade at one of the forward positions. Whether it's Ant+change for DDR or some other similar move, something really needs to happen here. And that's true if Dame stays or Dame goes

I don’t know whether Dame stays or goes either, but I don’t think yesterday was quite the watershed moment that some around here believe. Either way, Dame’s never had a problem expressing himself. Until he says he wants out, I’m assuming he’s here at least to start the season.

Honestly, I'm good if he even gives 2 years of tutelage. Dame seems no nonsense when it comes to the craft of the game and just because he says he doesn't want to be going through another youth movement, I think he will still impart his wisdom because he seems that type of guy.

Scoot isn't even in Portland yet and there are reports he's grown to 6'6 since we drafted him.

Well, it is better than a 2 guard lineup. We have Tybulle if you need a 4th.
I would Keep Mays as well after we make a trade

I don't think people are picturing Sharpe at SF...at least they shouldn't be

    I think it's a 3 guard rotation of Dame-Sharpe-Scoot

    Okay.... couple differences.

Sharpe is way taller and longer than Simons or CJ. He's a legit shooting guard. He's not a combo guard.

Scoot is a legit point guard. How long has it been since we had an actual backup point guard on this team? But his stats show that he can play off the ball as well.

Dame/Scoot/Sharpe is 100% different from Dame/CJ/Ant. It's not even close.

Is that all? I would have guessed 6'7 at a minimum. The team needs to employ Mike Barrett to help keep track of these things.

    Three guard ROTATION, my friend.

I'd like to see Dame and Sharpe to start, then Dame and Scoot, and then Scoot and Sharpe when Dame goes out.
