I can't "Trade Machine" it, because we have to wait until March 1st.

New York trades: Melo, their first rounder and Tyson Chandler. They receive Wallace and Howard.

Orlando Trades: Howard, Reddick and Nelson. They receive Melo, Camby, Felton and New York's first rounder.

Portland trades: Wallace, Felton and Camby. They receive Reddick, Nelson and Chandler

New York's Starting line-up: Linsanity, J.R. Smith, Wallace, Amare, Howard

Orlando's Starting Line-up: Felton or I. Smith, Wafer, Melo, Turk, and Camby

Portland Starting Line-up: Nelson or Crawford, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge and Chandler

Why would New York do it? Well Linsanity can be the playmaker he is, they get extremely tougher on the defensive end and another superstar that would work with Lin and a defensive SF to help the defense along. Wallace will be in the perfect situation because New York can afford to keep him.

Why would Orlando do it? The get a superstar that is locked in return. They also have a really good shot at getting a high draft pick; plus some cap relief to rebuild. Camby and Felton will come off the books entirely this summer.

Why would Porland do it? They get a great low post scoring, defensive minded and rebounding center. Plus they get one of the best three point shooters to help spread the floor. Nelson is a decent PG, that works well with big men and can shoot better than Felton, so that's un upgrade.

Orlando gets hosed. Aside from basically swapping Howard for Melo (which is a downgrade), they're essentially trading their starting PG and one of the league's top shooters for...expiring contracts.

    No chance.

Dude they won't be able to get anything for Howard. He wants big market NJ, LA, or NY.

The option is Gasol for Howard? You think Orlando is better with Melo or Gasol? NJ can't offer someone for Howard that works. And Orlando has enough shooters to compensate for the loss. Nelson isn't their best PG. But we don't have to get Nelson. We can send Matthews instead.

Also, keep in mind that this draft class has some great bigs. Orlando can grab one in the draft. They would have free-space to sign another via free-agency as well.

My point was that even ignoring the Melo/Howard part, the rest of it makes no sense for Orlando. You have them sending two good players to us for virtually nothing. Perhaps if they Orlando received Chandler as well as Melo, they might want to send us Redick or Nelson, but there's no reason for them to send us both and take inferior players.

I imagine most deals with Diwght, they want to ship Hedo with him.

NY does not have their first round pick this year, so that kills that tiny bit of value.

And I don't know why you would ever call Chandler a great low post scoring big. He's not. At all.

Orlando says no to this. They essentially swap Melo for Dwight, which leaves them likely with a pissed off star who doesn't want to be there, and still a lot of crap salary around him. No.

I think it's funny that you guys think Orlando says no. Basically the only teams Howard will approve a deal with is Dallas, NY, L.A. or NJ. Out of those teams, Melo is the best return. 1.) Because he is signed for another 4 years. He can't force them to deal him. 2.) Melo actually is a superstar on the wrong team. He would sell tickets, represent Orlando in the all-star game and is a player you can build around. 3.) Melo is better and younger than Gasol (which L.A. would offer). Melo is better than Lopez and picks (since that's all NJ has to offer for Howard to okay the deal). Dallas would have to include Dirk for Howard; which I doubt they do and why would Howard want to stay if Dirk is gone?

And Chandler is a HUGE upgrade. He is a legitimate Center. He shoots in the high 50's, gets double doubles and defends and block shots. We saw what just a average Oden did for our ball club. Imagine Chandler. He made short work of Bynum last season in the playoffs. He is exactly what we need in a center. Compliments Aldridge perfectly.

I didn't say he wasn't an upgrade. I said he was not a low post scoring big, which is how you described him.

I think LA would give up Bynum if asked. I think Dallas would probably lean to Bynum or Lopez over Carmelo, because of the great chance carmelo is pissed off being down there. yep, he's locked up. But doesn't want ot be there. And you just traded Dwight for that, not a great idea, IMO.

On top of that, with LA or NJ, you can have them take on other contracts in a deal. Here, that doesn't happen. Orlando will want ot shed some bad crap from their team, since the talent coming back won't be ideal.

I don't think Orlando would want Melo for Howard.

See I don't see it that way. Even if Orlando picks between Bynum or Melo; they choose Melo. Believe it or not, he can't do anything about it. Melo is a superstar for a reason. He wants to be the man. He's not going to sulk in Orlando; especially if they get a high pick this summer. Melo will sell more tickets than Bynum or Lopez hands down. In the rebuilding process, they want to sell tickets and having a Melo still in his prime will do that.

About the contracts... Well Orlando just saved well over 17 mil. What other shed are you talking about? They will have cap room this summer as well to nab a free agent as well. Let's say Orlando counters them trading only Howard, Quentin Richardson and Reddick or Nelson. Then they still have one or the other that are still valuable. They would have Turk, Melo and Reddick or Nelson core to build around. Since this draft has more bigs than the other drafts; chances are they get a big to help in the formula.

Orlando doesn't have a choice and will deal Howard, but I think NY would jump at the chance to replace Chandler/Melo for Howard/Wallace.

Portland would jump at the chance to get Chandler too because he is the perfect compliment to Aldridge. He is exactly what this team needs in a big man. And, he does score with his back to the basket; but more importantly, he runs the floor like Aldridge. He's basically a more defined of what Oden was supposed to be for this team.

If NY management leaks a possible deal for Melo for Howard, via Portland etc. I bet 100% that Howard makes it clear he wants this deal to go through.

New York would be instant contenders.

It's not their choice. Howard will not resign with them. Would you A.) Get Melo for Howard or B.) Howard for Gasol or Bynum or C.) Howard for Lopez and 2 draft picks or D.) Lose him for nothing?

That is the real question here.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He doesn't really score with his back to the basket. Chandler's one excellent skill on offense is finishing on pick and rolls. He's very poor at creating his own offense.

teams dont make trades like this because the players would be PISSED. who knows what they told these guys (melo, chandler) when they signed them, but i doubt "then we will immediately trade you" was in the conversation.

Turk's contract isn't that bad. He is on the hook for another 2 years after this season. In the rebuilding process, it's not as bad as you think. Big Baby is a decent big. And if they get a high draft pick, they can grab a big from the deep draft. Melo is going to sell tickets hands down over Bynum, Gasol, Lopez or a couple mid draft picks.
