The value of 39 or more points from swish3s is worth noting. Again in the Jazz game, the value of the 3 pointer for scoring per se and for establishing and keeping the lead were evident. Dame contributed 9, Meyers 3, and CJ 1 of them from a total of 30 shots. As other teams have shown, winning efforts are worth about 40 attempts. In the final 2 games and the playoffs against GS, the Blazer strategy should be to make at least 13 and to commit to 38-40 attempts. The great Blazer execution of defense that started in the 4th quarter of the Wolves game is a major factor in the winning strategy. Let's keep the intensity going that allowed for the excellent defensive results. The Blazers may make it into advanced rounds of the playoffs--and possibly win the championship--this year!
I'm in favor of the blazers making as many swish3s as possible, but for a guy who only shoots wide open shots, and doesn't bring anything else to the table, 34% isn't cutting it. The fact that you seem to love Meyers Leonard so much has me wondering if your love for the halfling leaf has dulled your senses.
Great observation Swish3. Gotta love when those swish 3s are falling! Meyers could be the king of the swish 3, hopefully one day he stops pump faking and just lets them fly whenever he is open (unless he's passing to another open team mate).
I predict that the more swish3 attempts that Meyers makes, the higher his percentage will be. He is good for at least 8 shots per game and energized for screens, defense, and rebounds when he is rolling. Some of his assists, like the one to Mo last night, are excellent. Let's encourage the successes.
Glad you mention his screening. Not enough people talk about that here, he's been setting his teammates some great screens to get them open.
myers should try to butt fuck the defender in the as arse as they try to come over his screen. That'll teach the other team that we're not a team to be fucked with, we do the fucking. And they'll go under the screen from then on, so Damian has more room to make swish3s.
So you're saying the more shots a player makes, the higher the % becomes. Insightful. Also go read the game thread. There were plenty of people mentioning how Nards was playing well, and it's not because you are making threads again. Telling people they should "encourage success".
You're as biased against Meyers as the OP is for him. Others have mentioned his screens. Meyers Leonard, is 35th in the league in screen assists per game, for the season. 35th may not sound elite, but consider most of the players ahead of him are starters that play ~30 MPG, while Meyers only averages 16.0 MPG. If you look at the top 50 players in the league in screen assists, Meyers ranks 7th in screen assists per minute played. And that, I do consider elite. If you're in the top 8 in any positive stat, you're doing it well. Since Nurk went down, Meyers is averaging 5.0 screen assists per game, in spite of only playing 21 MPG. That makes him 7th in the league in screen assists per game and first in screen assists per minute played for the month of April. In the three games we've won since Nurkic went down, Meyers Leonard had 7 screen assists against PHO in 22 minutes, 5 screen assists in 16 minutes against MIN and 8 screen assists in 30 minutes last night. So yeah, he does bring something else to the table. One of the reasons Dame, C.J. and Crabbe are getting so many open swish3s is the screens Meyers is setting for them. And, he's doing in with a bad back and hip. The guy has his limitations, but credit where credit is due. BNM
I say set the offense up around him; let him shoot at least thirty swish3's s a game! Nobody could beat us then!
